Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
However, my 2 cents: I have been 4 years now and every year I have taken less and less food and still feel like I bring too much. I bring snacks and sandwich stuff (roast beef and turkey). I usually buy breakfast and an evening meal in the campgrounds or Centeroo to the tune of about $15 a day (which isn't bad), then have a sandwich or two and snacks each day.
Whatever you do, make sure you're getting enough calories (other than from beer) and basic nutrition each day. A multivitamin can help if you feel like you're kind of eating junk, though there are vegetarian\healthy options a-plenty.
To sum it up, it is extremely easy to bring way too much food. Keep that in mind and we'll see you there...

ii find it worth while to take something. i like some chips or crackers and lots of water and diet orange drink. i also like to take lunch meat and pita bread. it makes a nice light snack.
Last year, I only bought two meals in Centeroo. I'm kind of a healthy guy, so I preferred to eat well rather than eating the food in Centeroo, but the food in there is delicious and it'll keep you going. I just didn't want to risk getting sick, ya'know? If you eat only in Centeroo, bring vitamins.
I haven't eaten a meal at my camp in at least the last four Roos. Food's very reasonably priced both inside Centeroo and throughout the campgrounds and I'm not wasting any time that I could either be sleeping or listening to music. I bring a few snacks each year and usually end up eating them after I've returned home.
The rule of thumb that I've heard around here and whole-heartedly support is to bring half the food you think you'll need and twice the clothes.

Except if it is your first year it is 2/3rds respectively. Also dont bring it on you, but try to have at least 100 bucks you can get out of the ATM at need.

^this. Try to bring stuff that won't spoil. I usually just bring stuff like benny said, plus some backpacker's pantry type food. If I don't feel like cooking it, it gets used later in the summer.

I still have clif bars from last year. Those things are disgusting. I'm only bringing snacks this year. Cheese/slim jim combo were the only snack that I brought and ate last year. Pita and hummus sounds like a fabulous idea though.

I over shopped both years. This year I am sticking to breakfast and snacks. I love waking up in the morning and cooking some eggs and bacon and couscous.

I, too, fall into the category of "brought too much food" to Bonnaroo last year. This year, the aforementioned pita and hummus, jerky, clif bars, and trail mix will be making the trip with me. Another good snack that I'm planning to bring is from Trader Joe's, their Sweet and Spicy Pecans are the best thing... if you've had these, you'd agree. I also bring mini carrots but I just like those. And a jar of peanut butter, and some fruits. And cheez its. I can survive off these things, and pizza in centeroo.

We take premade chicken strips (plain, buffalo, bbq) and tortillas. Usually a bit of cheese and ranch too to keep in a gallon freezer bag in our cooler. We eat that for lunch before we head in then we eat everything else in the center.
Also we take fruit, a crapton of Goldfish crackers, candy and usually 2 - 3 cases of bottled water.

After watching this, I'll never buy bottled water again. Well, I'll try not to buy any more bottled water. I think I'll bring gallon jugs this year instead of cases of water. At least, it's a little less plastic.

As for food I bring more liquids than I can bear to think about between water, Diet Pepsi (I don't drink coffee so I need something to jolt me in the morning after a late night) and Beer. Last year we brought making for lemon drops and I had some premixed cosmos in a 2 liter plastic bottle.
We bring fruit, muffins or bagels for breakfasty stuff, snack food, trail mix, etc. If nothing else you've got to be sure to have something to eat back at camp after a late show.
Make sure you bring something with some protein. When you're hot, as you're likely to be at Roo, you don't always eat "real food" and protein can pay the price. Even if it's some nuts or peanut butter it will really help.

I usually plan for 5 meals. 3 breakfast’s and 2 dinners. The breakfast’s are always cream cheese and bagels and a powder donut or 2. The 2 dinners are always pre-cooked (Penne Pesto with chicken, and usually spaghetti) so all I have to do is heat them up.
as for the other meals, I buy in Centeroo and it almost always comes out to $15 as stated above.
Myself and my little crew usually stock up on food...but only on things that are easy to prepare or carry, like sandwiches, burgers, Ramen, granola bars, etc. It's been my experience that you are almost always going to need to eat something inside CenterRoo during the day, unless you are camped REALLY close. That being said, eating at your campsite saves your money for other fun things, and also can help keep your stomach settled. I guarantee that a couple days of JUST festie food will give you the runs like nobodies business, and that's no good.
Oh, and always, always buy yourself a case of Gatorade. You wont regret it.

I've never been a big fan of Gatorade. The taste turns me off. I use U Hydration tablets. You can add them to water same as Gatorade powder but I find the taste better and the flavors more interesting (tangerine ginger). It has vitamins and electrolytes but has fewer calories than Gatorade which is handy for us gals. I also bring ClifShots to keep my electrolytes up. They're tasty (kind of like Swedish Fish or Turkish Delight candies), hold up well in the heat and are very portable. As far as regular food goes I tend to prefer cold foods for the hot climate, usually salads (green, tuna, potato) or fruits (watermelon rocks!).
