Chafing can really suck. Gold Bond has worked pretty well for me for the past few roos, but I haven't tried using Bodyglide. Anyone used both, and which is better?
Funny, we were just talking to people about this last night. We (Wife and I) personally do not have any problems with chaffing nor have ever needed anything. Not at Bonnaroo or when we hike. I can imaging this could be a real pain and make the weekend very discomforting.
From posts in years past looks like people grab the gold bond. But where I work the players have a ton of body glide that they use.

i must add...i dont think it would make your makeup stay on AT ROO. it DOES however make your makeup go on and stay on the rest of the year. im sorry i wasnt clear - i was expected everyone to read my mind i guess.

I seem to remember a small bottle of body glide was about $15. I can't remember how much the gold bond was but it was a lot cheaper. I didn't need to use anything last year or in 2004. Im pretty slender 5'11" 160lbs. I'm taking gold bond just in case. I have no idea which is better or if one is better at all.
Guys, do you use it for your legs, your nuts, your ass....what? I've never had a chafing problem so I'm kind of clueless when it comes to this.
I did wear some underarmour last year one day and it was so uncomfortable that I free balled it the rest of the day. I'm so used to boxers that I can't wear the tight stuff.

I use it for my inner thighs for the chafe, and give my junk a once-over because it's just more comfortable to not have sweaty nuts all day. I'm the same height as you are, but got about 60 lbs more weight. If I didn't use some sort of anti-chafe at roo or on the treadmill, I'd start chafing around 1 mile. Half of what I get in before breakfast every day these days. REI has a deodorant-type stick of bodyglide for a little less than 8 bucks, but that's still way more expensive than Gold Bond. That's pretty much why I was asking, to see if there's a decent cost-comfort factor that makes spending that much for one thing worth it.
After the horror of a far away campsite, I took the advice here and used Gold Bond for a year or two. Last year I did the Body Glide in the deodorant stick looking format and it worked really well as well. It's not all cool and tingly like the Gold Bond but it also doesn't get everywhere.
I voted Body Glide but it's almost a push. I intend to continue bringing both in the future.
I tried Bodyglide when I first got to Roo last year. I didn't care for it, it was kinda slimy and felt like it rubbed off in a relatively short time. Not to say that Gold Bond lasts much longer, I feel like neither one would suffice to stop the rub completely, I generally use Gold Bond then wear boxer briefs just to be safe. Chafe is no good.
Might be a little cheeper then Under Armor, try Wickers
Wickers is about 18 bucks a pair, Underarmor is about 20 bucks a pair, Walmart has Starter dri-star compression shorts for 10 bucks a pair, but at Target they have c9 heat wicking boxer briefs for 12 bucks per 2pack.

when it comes to my crotch, i tend not to think "cheap is better"
but that's just me
seriously though, ive tried some other ones and they ride up or just dont have the same fit - obviously, your mileage may vary.

Honestly (Wickers) that is all I own with the exception of bike shorts in which I own Pearl Izumi and Cannondale.
Just make sure nothing is made of cotton. It does not wick moisture away like synthetics.
Makeup at Bonnaroo ??? Mother of God, how? The only way my makeup would stay on is if I used a paint sprayer and shellac.
even more...WHY makeup at Bonnaroo! its the place to let your natural beauty shine through!
I get free samples of a product called calmoseptine that is the best thing ever for chafing. Its one of those things that I hope I never have to use but also never travel without in my little first-aid kit that I take on any trip of any kind.

I've tried both Bodyglide and Gold Bond since I have the same thigh chafing issue as you. Bodyglide didn't do anything for me, I still chafed. The Gold Bond worked much better.

I love the smell of Gold Bond in the morning. You know, one time we got bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, there was no chafing anywhere on my body. Just the smell, you know that powdery smell. It smelled like . . . victory.

Body Glide is great! I tried it for the first time last year. Only reapplied once a day as opposed to several times a day with the Gold Bond. I took both with me last year just to be safe and I'll probably take both again this year but the Body Glide is waaay better IMO. I just bought a new stick of Body Glide at Dick's last week and it was $10.
