it will be my first roo, but not my first music fest. went to sasquatch a couple years back and ended up not bringing a tent on accident and just slept on a air mattress on the grass by our car. it worked out just fine.
i was planning on bringing a canopy and making probably 3 tarp walls for shade. my question is, should i just forego the tent? most people say the tent gets so hot after 8 am its impossible to sleep in and you should move your sleeping to outside anyway.
if its raining or storming too hard, i could always just sleep in the car.
what do you guys think? i feel like we would be fine without the tent, but any experiences?
Personally I would bring it and set it up immediately upon arriving. First you will have it incase your other plans do not work out and you will gain a little more real estate. Are you not going with anyone?
I do not know how much you read here, but keep reading.
hi and welcome! i feel the same way as you. last year i took my shade tent and slept in my car. i did set up the big tent but didnt use it. this year im not taking the big tent but im taking a little pup tent. i will set up the shade tent and the pup tent. last year i was able to sleep in the car but id say that is not the usually situation. we had rain and cool temps at times so the car worked. id say i couldnot have slept in the car in other years.
i agree that you may want to set up the tent just in case. perhaps you may want a pup tent instead of a big tent.

thanks for welcome guys
i was probably going to bring it either way, just in case. just thought maybe i'd give us a little more room in our campsite, since we possibly could get by without it.
i have been reading up quite a bit on bonnaroo, from a lot of sources. i know the weather can be crazy. just thought maybe if we didn't really need it, might as well not bother with it. since it sounds like most people don't spend a whole lot of time at the campsite anyway.

I am setting up a two man tent under my ez up, maybe some tarps on at least a couple of sides of the ezup. I couldn't sleep past 6-7am last year in a tent with a rainfly. I plan on forgoing the rainfly this year if possible.

I'm still bringing my tent this year, but I've gotta say, the best sleep I got last year was on my cot under my EZ-up, out in the open where I could get a breeze. Even with no rainfly on my tent was easily 15 degrees warmer than the outside air by 8-9am. It's good to have a tent when you need some privacy or whatever though, or if you don't feel comfortable sleeping out in the open I guess.

first roo.. and super stoked. was wondering if there are limits to space. .. by that i mean would you be allowed to set up a canopy as well as a tent also? didn't know if there were certain restrictions..
how 'bout a cheer for all those bad girls. . and those boys that play that rock and roll.. They love it, like you love Jesus ..it does the same thing to their souls...
Technically the "rules" state that you get the width of your car by 10 feet for camp. I've always used considerably more space than that. As soon as you roll in, get out and claim the space that you think you need. If your neighbors object just communicate with them and assess what space is available. You shouldn't have a problem...
Definately bring the tent, worst case scenario you don't use it. But if we get a ton of rain or high winds, you'll be happy you brought it. Also as a female wouldn't you be a bit nervous some drunk or drugged out dude wanders by and lies down with you? Call me crazy, but I could see that happening.

We usually set up our canopy with our neighbors if possible, the double ez up with strangers sounds crazy but trust me at it ok usually makes it a lot more fun and the friends you make that way will be a lot more memorable !!
