Hey everyone. I know in the official bonnarules there is a statement saying no knives. I mean theres really no reason for anything like that for most of roo, but im sure it'd come in handy at the campsite.
If I brought a swiss army knife or a leatherman do you think they'd take it if they found it while we were entering the campgrounds? last year we had a cheap utility knife in the car that we barely used for anything, so ditching it this year wouldnt be too much of a problem. just want to make sure i don't bring a leatherman and get my multitool taken away or be in a situation where I wish i had a multitool because they don't care.
I'm not sure if anyone asked this before, I figured it would have been discussed but a quick search didn't come up with anything.
It won't be taken. You should be fine. I think it is important for roo (and the rest of us) to discourage knives just for safety's sake. But it isn't going to be taken. In fact, few are searched thoroughly enough to find something that size and that benign.

Some friends got in a shotgun case full of (unused, legal) glass last year. Their car was searched fairly thoroughly and they didn't find it. A multitool seizure...unlikely.
I brought my little leatherman last year and was totally paranoid about it being taken. It's not that I couldn't easily replace it, I've just had it for so long, like 7 years now. Naturally, they never saw it, it was never a problem. I don't believe I ever took it into Centeroo though.
Thanks guys. I only planning on leaving it in the car, so it sounds like it won't be an issue.
Yeah, I'd be astonished if you had an issue bringing a multi-tool in (or for that matter, even a reasonable sized blade on it's own). I know it's against the rules, but it tends to blend in and be pretty kosher as far camping gear goes. Bringing it into Centeroo, I'm sure would be an entirely different story.

I've never had a problem bringing utility knives or multitools. They'd probably take them if you had one on you on your way into centeroo, I've always made a point to secure anything that could accidentally hurt somebody right after camp is set up.

A Leatherman shouldn't be a problem, I've brought one the past 6 years, no problem. They really don't worry about that (in the campsites at least), last year I had a hatchet in my camp gear and they didn't look twice.
