This year will be my first Bonnaroo, and I've read a lot about parking being really random. My friends and I are all hoping to camp together but will be in multiple vehicles. If we met up at Walmart and then followed each other to the gates will we be giving the choice of parking together? We are hoping to make one big camp site but if we get separated that won't happen. Any advice will help, thanks.
When you go thru the toll booths tell the people taking your tickets that you have some friends in other cars. And then when they let you thru pull off to the side and wait there for the rest of your friends. My friends and I do this every year with about 4-5 cars and we have never had a problem. The parking people understand that people are coming with friends in different cars and are cool about it. Just make sure you're all coming in at the same time. They won't save you a spot next to your car.
If you're really worried, get some chalk or whatever it is the security people use to mark your car after you've been searched. Make a mark on all of your cars that is similar, or you can number the cars, something of that nature so they know you are all together.
We did this for the first time last year and it seemed to help.

Thanks for the info! I have friends traveling from Nashville, Knoxville and I'm coming from Dunlap (outside Chattanooga.) I think we are going to meet at the Walmart before we head in. Hopefully we can all find each other.
Another question. . . What's the best Multiple car set up you have seen or been apart of?
I'm really glad this was posted, because the writing on the cars and pulling to the side and waiting ideas are good ones that I didn't think of. Although the waiting thing should be common sense, which is something I sometimes lack.
I'm going with 6 people in 3 cars, and I think we're going to set our campsite up under a 10 x 20 canopy thing (my dad uses it for his work) and putting our tents and all of our stuff under there. We'll have 2 tents plus some tables and chairs. Since there are three cars, I'm hoping this shouldn't be a problem with using too much space. Does this sound like a good idea, or needs work?

In 2008 we rolled in with about 6-8 cars and in 2009 it became 8-9 and never had issues. We did what was stated above, go through security and pull to the right and wait for the caravan to catch up!
We had to argue with the parking guy last year to have our two cars next to each other. All the parking attendants should get it, even if you have to jump out of the car and explain the situation. The only thing that could mess you up is if you happen to be at the end of a row, again talk to the attendant to get it worked out.

Last year we had six cars in our caravan; again, no problem coming in and camping together. We had three 10 X 10 EZUps, arranged in a > shape, sort of. One was our kitchen and the other two were for social space. We were able to arrange most of our tents around the canopies. Two really large ones had to go to the other side of the cars. It was a great little compound for us.
I too am glad to read this. In '08 we had three cars and 7 people/4 tents. We had 2 pop-up shades in the center, the tents made a U around them with two tents right next to our cars. It worked out well and left our canopy open so we could chat with neighbors and also mae a compound of sorts so it wasn't all exposed to traffic/nerdowells.
This year we may have up to 8 cars and it does make me feel better to see posts of others who have had so many cars and have been successful!

Ya I think I have 8-10 cars in my caravan, we are trying to figure out a good way of marking things to keep them together, from what it seems like the biggest thing needed is diligence. Every person in each car has to insist they are with the group and not accept no, I guess some attendants don't want to be bothered with it. we are going to have a pow-wow about it, if we come up with any good ideas I'll share em
I have heard of people being split up, but I haven't heard too many stories in that boat. anyone here get split up before and not go in with your caravan?

^^^^^ I have heard that you can still get split up but I think it only a real problem if you are at the end of the row. Hopefully we won't have that issue. We are planning on getting there pretty early Thursday morning. . . fingers crossed. . .

we went with 20 to 25 cars in '03 and '04, over 40 people in our group. Camp GEEZER for the win! Use white shoe polish to mark your cars and keep some cash ready to make the lot attendant happy. They're working hard in the heat for no money, and $20 bucks goes a long way. The hardest part is telling people on the freeway that they can't get in front of you. The best thing to do in that situation is just tell them that you're all together and to get in front of whoever is the lead car in your group.

We have 7 people four cars (potentially an additional 5 people and 2 more cars could join our group). So I think we will end up with 12 people 6 cars and 5 tents. I have been thinking about slipping the guy $20 to get all of the cars in the back row all side by side. Do you think the $20 will get this done?
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

It worked for us in '04. We did not want to be all parked in a row 20+ cars long. We wanted to be 5 or 6 cars wide and then have the rest of the cars lined up behind the first row 5 cars deep. That's a nightmare for the workers trying to park you. There job is to line you up and move on down the row. For $20 he had us all pull off to the side and wait for them to finish out the row. Then he took us to the start of the next row (which was way closer too!) and let us park how we wanted. Once the workers move down the row and before they show up to start the next row, you can spread out your cars and sort of open up a space in the middle of them all. I called it circling the wagons. We had a HUGE communal lounging area.
one of my friends went VIP last year and said the grass in his designated area had been painted. i have a hard time believing they would've done that for the entire farm though. right?
We will have one car, a large 4-person tent and a 10'x10' pop-up shade thingy...will we have enough room in a single camping space???
In '07 we had a 6 person tent, a 4 person tent and a 10x10' pop-up and it all fit in our space. We didn't have a super big space either. One tent was butted right up to the back of the truck, then the EZ up, then the other tent, which was almost right on top of our neighbor's tent.
