shouldn't be too big of an issue. Last year we got in around 11-noon and still had plenty of space. 2008 we still had space for a few tents around us on Saturday
i'm a little confused on how exactly tent only works. last year, my friends and i got to the grounds around 12:00 p.m. and when we asked to go to tent only, none of the workers new what we were talking about. any suggestions on how to handle this?
What we just did last year was unload the car, walk over to the "road" and follow the crowd. Once we got to a spot with an intersection sign or one of those numbered balloons (which wasn't more than 10 yards) we looked on the map provided when you come in and figured out where tent-only was in relationship. Then we got to walkin'. As long as you get there early enough to get the maps you should be ok.
My group is debating the possibility of arriving Wed night and setting up camp where they put us but also setting up a "day-camp" at camping only so we dont have to go so far to get water/food etc.
would this make us total D-bags or is there enough space for us to take up a small area?

I'd say wait until Friday to see how full it is before setting up a day camp. Definitely don't want to take up space people need to sleep and stuff. If it looks like there's going to be a decent amount of space, give'r

I thought about doing this last year, but decided it was a dick move since space is always at a premium in tent only. That being said there is nothing in the rules against it, and you will not be taking up more room than anyone else there. Hell the way it is sounding with ticket sales we might all be able to park our cars in the What Stage field.

Tent only is the whip. Who knows how far back in the boonies they'll put you (some people are up to a mile away when they walk, and that walk catches up to you by Sunday). But if you make the one time trek to tent only with all your stuff, you get premo real estate, with less than a 5 minute walk to Centeroo. You'll realize just how awesome that short walk is all weekend, especially when you're hungry and don't want to spend $10 on food in Centeroo. I'm trying to convince my crew that tent only is the place to be.

As far as setting up a day camp in Tent Only....I think my opinion on this is that as long as your total amount of space isn't ridiculous, it's cool. Just try to envision if you combined your two campsites, would it be a ridiculous monstrosity that would have your neighbors hating you? Basically I guess if you want to make a day camp in Tent Only, don't do it too early, keep it fairly small/simple, and then try to balance it out by making your other campsite a bit smaller/simpler than it would have been otherwise.
We went tent only last year and we got in there early enough that we didn't have much trouble finding space. There was even enough of a gap next to us that we almost had additional neighbors who showed up late Thursday night and we managed to squeeze them in. So...I don't think it would have bothered me to find out that someone in the area also had a regular campsite as long as neither was too extravagant. I'd probably feel differently if we ended up not getting as much room as we were hoping for, but it didn't seem like there was THAT much of a stampede for the space in Tent Only.
Definitely give it some time though and wait until Thursday night or Friday morning before staking out some space for yourself, because no one will know in advance how much space will even be allotted for Tent Only...especially with the new rent-a-tent thingies.
If space is really a huge concern try what I do. My crew gets in at sunrise on thurs. morning then wait in BFE for them to let us up to tent only. This way we are literally the first people let into that section. It's like a open land rush when you get to T.O. Way more open ground than I ever thought I would see at roo. That being said we had folks adding tents around us through saturday. The point of this ramble: if you can keep your site size down then there is absolutely no worry about finding space up in poor man's VIP.
After getting in line at about 8AM last year, I finally made it through the tollbooths and parked at about 3:30 PM or so. By the time I had lugged my stuff to tent only it was about 4PM Thursday. By that point it was pretty well full up but I was able to find a space to squeeze in. I'm definitely planning to get in line a bit earlier this year on the chance of having such a long wait again. I'd hate to lug my stuff there only to be unable to find a place to set up.

I'm gonna be heading to Tent Only as soon as it opens on Thursday morning, but I will gladly let people squeeze in on all sides of us. Just look for the dark green EZ Up, the red Coleman tent, and a huge PVC flag with a picture of a Sun right above a Cresent Moon on its side looking up at the sun.
Only been to Roo once, and did Tent Only. So convenient, can't imagine hiking half a mile every time I want a couple beers from the cooler, or changing clothes after rain, or whatever.

How do you get to tent only?Just walk towards Centeroo when ou arrive? Is it really big? What time do the officials let you in to the space? Last year our campsite was so far away, I've never been more excited to load up a wagon and hike on up.
Well, here's to hoping Bonnaroo's prepaid Tent City will be a failure.
They said that they only had two left. IDK how many they started with, but this may not bode well for Tent Only in the future (assuming that's where it's located).
So my question is this...how do they keep you OUT of tent only before Thursday at 8am? We camped there last year, after 8am, and I know theres that chain link fence up by the road and official vendors, but I also know there is parking within the fence. So do they have the fence closed? manned? do they just come tell you to pack your stuff up and get out?
