I've been waiting on a Louisiana thread and still not one so I thought I would start one. I meet someone from LA every year. I'm from Monroe. Pretty lame city but good people. There is always a group of us going. 4th roo for me. Still am mad that I missed 2006. Ready to roll out!! One month away!!!

Hey can anybody teach me how to talk with that New Orleans accent? I'd love to talk like you all! How about this -- everybody at Bonnaroo from Louisiana meet up and come get drunk with me? LoL. Maybe by morning I'd be talking like you all. (But really... I'm serious as hell about the let's get drunk part!) Everybody I've ever met from Louisiana has been cooler than hell.

I will come hang, but i dont have the accent. Im from north louisiana. Sound more like a hick from arkansas. Heres a quick story. Went to florida a couple years ago. There was a big group of us and there was another group that was from south louisiana. We both hung out and all the florida people just kept asking us why we talk so different and we both say we are from louisiana. So not all people from louisiana talk alike. But i did hang out with a bunch of guys from new orleans for a year and when i got back home, everybody said i talked so differently. Go figure. But we do all party the same!!!
Yeah I wouldn't say there's a distinct New Orleans accent. Slurred speech and the use of y'all, that's about it
Oh yes there is. I went to school with a bunch of Cajuns in Monroe. Y'all don't realize it maybe, but you speak with an accent like no other city. And it is beautiful.

Lol. Squeaknastly that's a good story. I'm picturing everybody gettin more and more puzzled as the night wore on, right? Haha. It's kinda like the time me and my friends starting talking to some guys from -- idk -- Turkey. Their ENGLISH seemed to get better and better as the night wore on. Around 10 o'clock they could only speak about 10 words of English. By 2 am it was like they were using a thesaurus. Lol. (Maybe they were just fast learners, right???)
Yea, you'll def have to come hang out. We'll do jager shots while I listen to you talk. lol -- (If I can find jager in a plastic bottle.) Hey -- maybe while Kings of Leon is on... lol. Just kidding. (I saw them last year at Lollapalooza and they actually do a pretty good live show. But, uhmm, seeing Tool the next night is what changed my life...

Ya, deetank, when I say New Orleans i don't exactly know how similar the accent is to other parts of Louisianna. But you're right it's all that, "where y'at?" kinda stuff that's so cool! And the way you all mix up french with english. I love it. Am I right thedruid?

hahahaa funny that you mention the english/french mix up. I work at a hotel in the city, guests often ask "so how do you pronounce ______ st ?" I always have to preface my answers with "well, the way we pronounce it is..."

3rd year in a row! Our drive takes about 8hrs. Yesterday I replaced my camelbak and bought a fan for the tent. And I think I just secured a ticket for $200. Soooo close...

nola2roo--> Agreed!!! My girlfriend, 2 of our friends, and myself are making the trip from Baton Rouge on that Wednesday. We always meet up with some friends of mine from college that live in Murfreesboro, TN (about 45 mins from the farm) and set up in tent-only on Thursday morning. I say the more the merrier (and the bigger campsite/party). Hope to meet ya'll!
Tent only, huh.. I've never done that. I dont see why I need my car though except to charge my phone. I could always figure a way around that. Is there room for easy ups in tent only? What about hotels in Murfreesboro? 4 of us, (2 cars), are planning on getting in line between 8-9 on Thursday.
hey, i'm lookin for a ride from roo to Baton Rouge. Can anybody help me out? will be happy to contribute gas money and do some driving. If i can find a ride back it'll make a 2week festival binge happen for me.

nola2roo... Tent-only is the ONLY way to go IMHO, unless you're in VIP, access, or get EXTREMELY lucky with parking. Space is on a first come, first serve basis so we go into the farm Wed. night and get parked in BFE. On Thursday morning they open the gates of BFE at about 8-9:00 and allow you to move into tent-only. It's about a 30min walk from BFE to tent only, but once you get there and set up you can throw a rock and hit Centeroo (it's right by the arch). EZ-Ups are definitely allowed, and you get as much space as you claim when you get there. Definitely some of the best parties, and extremely convenient if you need a break from Centeroo. We were smart last year and brought a big yellow wagon to haul everything there and allowed us to be able to grab space with the quickness.
mofro... would love to help you out, but our car is full. Sorry!

^did you happen to have a state flag at your camp last year? I've got a pic from last year of the centeroo arch with tent only in the background, and there's a LA flag flyin' proud. We've been lucky the past years as far as parking goes: Camp Ferris Bueller. It's right next to $1 grilled cheese and centeroo, never had to consider Tent-only.
kungfu: i just blue myself. you'd fit in well at our camp, we're a bunch of AD addicts.
I say we should all go see Miike Snow play at the republic wed night, then follow their bus to Bonnaroo, eh eh??
I'm from Shreveport, Louisiana. This will be my first roo, and my boyfriends 4th. From all of his stories, feel like I have been there and I'm stoked!! Just 11 more days, woo hoo!!

deetank--> We were flying an LSU flag that looked like an American flag with a purple and gold barber striped pole last year. Don't know if the flag and pole are going to make an appearance this year though.
It would be awesome to go see Miike Snow prior to Roo, but we're already gonna be on our way to the farm.
Hey y'all! I'm going this year, but my crew had to cancel. Besides a few acquaintences from Nola, I won't know anyone going. I live in Baton Rouge now, but I went to UL Monroe so I'm fluent in both coonass and redneck!
It would be sweet to meet some new friends from Louisiana at Bonnaroo! I'm flying into Nashville and hopping the Bonnaroo Shuttle Thursday AM. Since I'm not coordinating camping gear/supplies with anyone and traveling light, it would be nice to meet up and establish some community early on.
I left my email address public when I registered, so you can email me or find me on Facebook using that address. Looking forward to it!
