Sonic Forest isn't there anymore? Such and Such is being replaced by a corporate tent?
Bonnaroo is officially run by the man.
Dude, Sonic Forrest hasn't been there in a couple years - and if ticket sales are down, you have to expect them to cut SOMETHING. Odds are Chase is pretty much footing the bill for their tent, so it's not like we traded Such N Such for this lame Freedom Tent bull. It's not "the man" ruining things...it's just the cost of doing business in a rough economy with a line-up a lot of people don't like.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "

This just stinks. These guys were my favorite thing last year. I happened upon it Saturday night and was blown away by its coolness. It's funny I work behind the scenes at the show and know the guys I work dont get paid much if anything and I work for free. I wonder if it was more profitable when they were booking smaller bands that didn't cost so much?
I feel like if you're going to boot one of your most prominent art installations, that the worst decision you could make is putting a quacking big corporate tent where it used to be.
Patrick Roddy was made Chief Operating Officer of ACE this year. Did he kill the awesome smoke rings and fire show for a restricted access corporate peep show?
Hey, I got a greeting card with the now defunct Art of Such N Such. Priceless.

This makes me kinda sad...I was really hoping that this was another "joke" but apparently not...Like the smoke rings! Last year, they had the "peeping hole' thing going too! This just seems wrong. I so hope that this is a one year thing only...
Plus this makes getting The Jim Rose Circus there even less of a possibility.

One of my most memorable moments from last year was watching Public Enemy while AoSaS was spewing fire into the air right next to them. It was epic and I am def disappointed that they won't be back.

i guess im the only one who is indifferent about this. my guess is that i wont even notice the lack of smoke rings, which was the only attention i paid to this installment.
I admit after reading this I was slightly disappointed. Looking at the "Activities & Attractions" I see new activities listed that I have never seen before. I think it is more about keeping things fresh and new. Such n Such has been there for four years, we can't really say 100% why they will not be there. Maybe people attending their shows were lacking attendance for the amount of money that they (Bonaroo) were paying. Would you really want the same thing every year? There would be no surprise, no wondering, no guessing.

this really sucks. the art was some of my favorite stuff to go look at over the last 6 years when i have gone. it was always cool to see the fire jugglers and stuff at night. i can't believe ticket sales were that bad.

Just my take.
I can tell you 100% that they are NOT coming. They were cut. I will agree with you that they need to do something different, but I like FIRE.

I didn't see anything Odwalla there last year. It sucks that they were cut but I honestly never had to time to check it out. I could really care less about them exploding pollution into the air constantly. A fire to keep warm is one thing, but a huge cloud of smoke for no reason is ridiculous anyways.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
do you guys see the buskers listed? i always like to hit that and they also have that parade that goes around every year. i always caught cccome at some point. dang

A smoke ring or five is the least of Bonnaroo's carbon footprint problems. I think Odwalla had a vendor tent last year, but not a big to do like they have this year.

I've only been to Roo '08. But I'll tell you what, the AoSaS was such a pleasant suprise that caught me completely off-guard in such a magical way. I remember Thursday night walking around after Dark Star Orchestra in a somewhat "altered" state of mind and stumbled upon the Fire Act. I had just never seen ANYTHING like that before and it was such a great intro into what made Roo really really special that weekend.
I had to sign in and post for this sorry everyone been really busy but will still be making Roo this year but I am hopping mad over this they could have easily got them back I am positive if they wanted to. If they are not there it is because they did not want them to. They can afford Jayz but cannot afford some lamp oil, firewood, circus carneys, etc? Hell it was never even like they paid them to design the stuff I am a huge and longtime fan of Such N' Such and let me tell you most of their Art was traveling and not even designed speifically for the festival. I bet a Sweetwater Blue that either this Lunar Stage or Chase tent will be in its place. I am o.k. if it is the Lunar Stage to some degree. However if it is a tent that you have to have a specific credit card for? Wtf? We bought tickets to the festival does that not give us a right to go in there? Are there any Dr. Gonzo Lawyers on here cause if so I want someone to film me trying to get into the tent without this card and be turned away because of economic discrimination after I have bought my ticket. Then we will go find a computer and have a lawsuit slapped on Bonnaroo by Friday morning
1-1-12 Bassnectar NYE SHOW! 1-21-12 G. Love and Special Sauce 3-1-12 Radiohead 3-9-12 Experience Hendrix 5-15-12 Jack White @ The Ryman 6-7-12 Bonnaroo 6-19-12 Roger Waters presents "THE WALL" 7-7-12 Ringo Starr's 72nd Birthday Party Extravaganza at the Ryman
This is sad, I really enjoyed the Art of Such and Such. It's a real shame that ticket sales are bad enough that a music and arts festival has to cut its biggest arts attraction. The fire breathers and the costume parade were always fun to watch on the walk between stages. Hopefully it'll be back someday.
