Hey I'm new here and been lurking for a while but I had this question I need answered soon hence registering.
Are handsize glass items okay? Such as a glass ashtray, or a glass bong slide (for my acrylic tobacco water pipe (seriously)) or a 2 inch glass cigarette tube (think hunter thompson).
I'm sure people have gotten in before with such things but I want to make sure if I'm one of the cars getting stopped and thoroughly checked, I don't get hassled about such small stuff.
I just can't see how they can be so anal about all glass of all sizes. I mean they must allow in glasses, and glass used in watches, lanterns, electronics, etc. heh...
Seriously, I had a nice person check my car because when they opened the back door the jar of glass peanut butter slid out of goshknowswhere and he looked at it, looked at us with a, "you all are soo lucky I am not taking that and ruining your lunches for the whole trip" and let us go. I think if it was a different gateperson, my peanut butter would have been confiscated. And yes, I am talking peanut butter, it's not code for something more exotic.
Put it where someone wouldn't look. If it's that small, it's not that hard to hide.
The only person who would pat you down would be cops en route to Roo. Please folks, don't write "BONNAROO OR BUST!" on your cars, don't be reckless or break traffic laws en route. The cops know whats up and will pull you over for the most minor infraction. Heading to Roo, you constantly see RVs and cars all decorated for Roo pulled over and being searched. Wait until you enter the gates to be enthusiastic.
Last year the guys who searched our van at the gate either just weren't that thorough or they just didn't care haha. We purposely hid a bottle of champagne under the front seat so we could make mamosas in the morning but when they opened the cooler we had so much glass. And I was being so on point too with the no glass rule (other than the champagne) it just went right over my head I guess that pb/jelly and pickles came in glass jars! haha. I snuck in both purposely and accidentally!

Yeah no pat downs until you go into centeroo. They are only looking for large quantities of items they don't want on the farm. I, personlly, love the no glass rule. The damn grass enough sharp enough let alone having broken glass on the ground.

I tried to transfer my pickles from a jar into a tupperware container at the tollbooth last year, but the guy stopped me and laughed, "Dude no worries, that's not the kind of glass we search for here." It was nice of him, but not always the case, so don't bring any glass you don't want to lose.
In any case, when I try to imagine Bonnaroo without their strict No Glass rule, it makes me think of that scene from Die Hard where Hans shot out all the windows
What about Glass that is medical related? What do you do if your medicine comes in a glass container? Can they giving you trouble or make you throw out your medicine if you have a prescription?

I also got a note from my doctor saying that the medication was necessary and that I was to have it at all times. I don't expect to get hassled if they search thoroughly enough to find it.
If I'm understanding you correctly, you don't need to worry about bringing in those types of glass items. You'll be able to purchase similar items within 10 minutes of your arrival at Bonnaroo. All kinds of vendors right along and just off of Bushy Branch road. Bet on it.
