I'll be day parking Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I don't think Saturday or Sunday will be a problem getting in, but what do you think will be the best time to arrive on Friday? I'd like to catch Conan at 1PM.
Anybody wanna car pool on Friday from Murfreesboro?
I was curious about that also... how long would it take to get in on Friday. If I was to leave Murfreesboro at X, I can be at the farm for about Noonish and try to see Conan.

I was a day parker for the last 5 roos. Friday isn't usually too bad coming in from Murfreesboro (we waited an hour last year around noon to get on-site which was the longest wait time yet). And there is always Plan B- paying to park in the grass before you get to the festival site if the traffic going is moving too slow for you.
What you might not be taking into consideration is the process for getting in the Comedy Tent. If you want to watch Conan live, you'll need to get a pass SUPER early. Since Friday is his first show, those passes will be gone quickly. If you're okay with watching the screening of the show, then plan on about an hour and a half to get through the checkpoints, take the long walk in, then get settled.
On Friday, the staff is still in pretty decent search mode, so it takes a little while to drive in. Saturday & Sunday, they more or less wave everyone through.
It's always better to plan on being early... I missed Clutch a couple of years ago by not planning ahead. Thank goodness they're back this year for redemption.
If you;re paying for a ticket to a concert that includes camping, then why not camp?
I don't know, my thing is that if you go to a festival, bring your tent. If a festival doesn't have camping and I have to pay extra for a room, it's not worth it.
This is the reason why I won't go to ACL or LOLLA or that one they did in NYC a few years back.
Just buy a tent or if you have enough money to rent a hotel room then get the RV pass. Or if you are really snobby then rent the on site tent. Or if you're REALLY REALLY snobby and you have 7 friends that are also REALLY REALLY snobby then get that total access thing.
Either way stay on site. Save money and tent it. It so much fun
*****I don't mean snobby as a negative. I more mean it as if I can't have it then I'm going to hate it.******

Some people are older and really really hate to camp and live close by. I day parked for 2 years but decided to deal with the camping part because it's just easier..... I still hate camping and at 43 sleeping on the ground is not so easy.....
For the original poster, never had a problem getting into day parking on any day. The traffic was a little heavier on Friday morning but Sat and Sun there was no traffic.
Best two reasons I can see for not wanting to camp
1. Living close enough 2. *really* not liking to camp (I'm here)
Nor at the time of me buying the ticket and planning this trip (this is my first festival btw) did I even realize camping was such a big element to it. Only after did I (on another site when I announced I was going) get asked how much about the whole camping thing.
Something to learn for next time...

Stupid question, but some issues arose that will keep my fiancee and I from camping overnight on site this year (her parents live close by, so we will be staying with them.) Is there anything separate we need to do in order to day camp, or do we just drive up to the day parker designated entrance with our normal tickets?
I already emailed both the general info address and the ticket address on the official site, but I figure this close to the event, it might get lost in a sea of other questions and the answer would not be so timely. So, if anyone on here knows a definite answer, that would be most helpful.

I appreciate all the info in the thread. On one hand, I'm sad I'm not camping, but I have a friend who lives a few miles up the road, and I'm looking forward to staying with him. So day parking is gonna happen every day of 'Roo for me.
I day park because I have family who live in Manchester. I've camped before, and yes, it has its perks. However, it's hard to beat the ability to leave at 4am and go back to get a shower and sleep in a bed with A/C all night with no disturbances from noise / heat / some drunk guy falling into your tent and snapping the poles (true story) / etc. and coming back refreshed the next day. Like I said, camping can be fun too and maybe you miss out on some of the atmosphere, but day parking and staying with family wins out for me.
As for saving money, I'm staying with family, so there's no cost. Buying a tent would be more expensive. I would never stay in a hotel rather than camp, but if you live locally, or have friends/family in the area, I'd day park.
As far as the wait, it seems like if you arrive earlier, you'll have less of a wait in line. I don't think I've ever waited longer than about an hour on Friday, and Saturday and Sunday are never a long wait. Last year was worse than normal because of the storm on Thursday night which turned the entrance into a giant mud hole, limiting the number of cars they could check at one time. If you're wanting to see an early show one of those days, do yourself a favor and get there early, to beat the traffic. If it rains a bunch before hand, get there extra early.
And since someone asked what to do, just come in from the Bushy Branch Rd. entrance, let the parking people know you're day parking, so they don't shuffle you into a convoy to the campgrounds and they'll direct you where to go. It seems half of them are clueless as to where day parking is, but most of them know to point to someone else who probably knows where it is. "Go talk to that guy with the flag, he should know where it is."
