Well, I'm all packed and ready to head out to this Fest in the morning. 4 days of camping on the Obey River listening to "roots" music. Kind of a trial run for Roo.
Just back from Hippie Jack's and had to say "What an amazing Festival." If you like mountain music and it's contemporary derivatives, it is a must. They had great bands like the New Familiars and the Flea Market Hustlers tearing up the place and to get to see Goose Creek Symphony was incredible. For those of you who don't know GCS has been around for 45 years and can best be described as a hillbilly contemporary of the Grateful Dead, with an amazing bluegrass/rock/jamband style.
The crowd was between 500-700 with about 300 being campers set along a Obey river . It was very people friendly with everyone letting their kids play in the field and Grandma sitting in her chair watching the show. And music circles going on 'til 6am in the campground every night.
Probably the most friendly and comfortable fest I've ever been to. I'm definitely going back in Sept.
