Hi guys! I've been lurking & posting on this wonderful magical site full of answers.
This is pretty much what is going on.
In my mind I thought Bonnaroo would go something like this:
Wake up go into Centeroo we'll watch some bands then walk back to camp chill out drink a little get our corn on before night so we can change into some costumes grab some jackets and then go back to Centeroo. Now after seeing the schedule that's gone to sh*t there is so much to see and do that we don't know how/when we'll be able to peel away to hang at camp.
How does everyone split their time? Are the taxis easy to catch? Is there a specific place where they are at?
We are staying in a hotel and leaving it super early to get on line at around 4am thurs - I hope we don't get stuck in BFE.
*fingers crossed*
2 weeks could not come fast enoughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

As far as splitting time between centeroo and camp goes, me and my group have always played it by ear. Going back to camp isn't necessarily planned. By looking at the schedule I can tell I'll probably be at camp during the headliners. Oh, and you'll be at your camp for a few hours every morning. The heat will wake you up fairly early and shows don't start until 12ish.
Taxis are readily available, they're always cruising around.
If I were staying in a hotel the night before I would just have a good night's rest rather than get in line so early. I can understand being anxious to get in, but you're going to be there for four days. I wouldn't want to be exhausted on Thursday night.

I was only at camp last year when I woke up and when I went to sleep. I def don't plan times to be at camp.
The schedule is amazing, you just have to make it work.
There are taxi stands and are very easy to find. There is one close to Centeroo and there are taxis everywhere. They do not take you exactly where you want to go though. They have predetermined routes so they'll get you close. I'd only use the taxis if you are exhausted. Last year, it seemed a little faster than walking but not much. The taxis have to drive in the same pathways as everyone uses to walk on. So sometimes, you are just creeping along at walking speeds because people won't move out of the way.
If you get in line Thursday at 4am, you will more than likely be in BFE. Sorry, it's just the nature of the game. Early bird gets quacked. But you probably won't be in line as long as if you got in line around 10am. I do worry about you being turned away if you arrive at 4am. I've never gone in that early, but we are planning on going in on Wednesday night this year. They usually unofficially open the gates on Wednesday but I have no idea if they close the gates or just continue to let people in.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
I find it hard to put my schedule in concrete before going to Bonnaroo. You will walk past a tent/stage and some artist you never heard of before is playing and it's so amazing, you get sucked in and miss some band you planned on seeing. But you don't mind because this show opened up a new genre of music for your mind.
And you will get to camp and realize you are way more exhausted than you thought and will sleep through some show that you felt you wanted to see, but by doing this it will prep you for seeing a late night show you really really REALLY wanted to see and then you will be able to fully enjoy it.
I remember one year being so exhausted I literally fell asleep standing up at a show. I wish I had missed the meh headliner to catch a quick powernap to enjoy the late night festivities.
Just go with the flow, don't force your friends to see what you want to see and don't go see something you don't want to out of mob mentality guilt. Just go with the flow and realize if you don't get your entire bucket list of shows, you will still have the most life-altering amazing time at Bonnaroo!

This is so true. Last year I missed Grizzly Bear because I got really sucked into Al Green. I do not regret it at all.

Personally I enjoy going back to camp a bunch of times during the day to resupply and enjoy some cornage. Its so Gosh Darn hot some days that I just feel like sitting and listening to music coming from Centeroo, which is why Tent Only is the only place for me.

The thing I hate about going back to camp is that I have to wait in line again to get back into Centeroo and if I'm pressed for time because the next show is about to start I have to stand there and stress that the line is gonna take too long and I'm gonna miss the beginning. My rule of thumb is unless there is more than an hour between two shows I want to see I do not leave Centeroo until I am ready to go back to camp for good.
Enter and exit Centeroo one time daily unless there is a buttload of time in between shows.
Taxi's are not worth the money and I kinda dug being in BFE last year.
I disagree with your first point and heartily agree with the second.
Seven bucks was totally worth it last year when I had to leave before Zac Brown Band last year because my gf was ready to call it a night and I got to zip right back up to Centeroo, avoiding all of the mud and still getting there in time for the start of the set.
And as a five year BFE vet, I wouldn't have it any other way!!!!

BFE is not bad at all and is not as far away as the name implies. A lot of the campground not classified as BFE is actually further away, especially considering the gate that allows you to cut around VIP.

Well yeah I mean there are notable exceptions. GF and I walked to walmart early friday or saturday from an exit pretty much next to our camp. On the way out we were told we wouldn't be allowed back in that way, we thought it was shitty but wouldn't be too bad. Turned out the entrance we wound up coming back to with arms full was pretty much completely on the opposite side of the farm. So she's got the two styro coolers, soda, food and lord knows what else and I've got a case of beer and two bags of ice rapidly melting all over me and we realize this is practically a death march. Had to hop two taxi's to get back to where we were camped, but that time they were worth it. I just know there are a fair amount of people that ride those damn things everywhere no matter what and while it's their money personally I'd just take the hike, didn't think the walk was that bad. Anyway yeah, I'm actually hoping for BFE again, definitely had it's perks.

enlighten me, what are the perks?
I have been in BFE 2 out of my 4 years and I will avoid BFE by any means necessary. By the end of Sunday, your so drained from all the walking back and forth. The other two years I was about a 5 or so minute walk from Shakedown which was soooo much better.
Arriving on Wednesday night so you can set up in the cool of the night instead of the 90+ degree sun
A quieter area to camp in, generally surrounded by other people who are really enthusiastic to be at Roo (hence their arriving early)
The portopotties seem to be the first cleaned each morning
The walk to Centeroo is not that bad, especially with the shortcut through/around VIP to What (not to mention the taxis)
Those are a few of my favorite things... about BFE.
Edit: I should mention that I'm only at my camp to sleep -- I don't do the back-and-forth that some folks around here do. I'm gone from 11AM - 5AM most days and eat my meals in Centeroo. If you're planning on spending lots of time at camp then BFE might not be the best solution for you.
