Hey everyone, I've been trying to decide what to do about Bonnaroo this year. I know a big group of people going, but I don't really want to go with them. I want to go for the MUSIC not the other stuff that's there... The people I would go with will be completely focused on everything EXCEPT the music. I don't want to go to Bonnaroo with people who are ALL about getting as messed up as possible (on EVERYTHING) constantly. Corn is fine, but I'm trying to stay away from other stuff because I don't want to fall back into any bad habits...
So, I think I'm going to be going solo this year (Unless someone from Georgia/Atlanta area wants to carpool/set up camp together, shoot me a PM) and I think I'll probably do Tent only.
I was thinking of setting up in Camp Inforoo, but I'm not sure. Is there space? I plan to leave for Bonnaroo after a concert in Atlanta on Wednesday night (where I'll be sober so I can stay awake and drive safely) so I should make it there pretty early I think to set up.
I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions/experiences going by themselves. Is it safe? I'm a 19 year old guy, so I think I can mostly take care of myself. I was at Bonnaroo last year, so I know my way around somewhat.

We are in pretty much the same boat, except I really don't know anyone else going. My companion in 2008 moved to freaking Germany last year. That and it was a last minute decision for me to go this year. Too late to find someone to go with. Hard enough finding someone besides your wife to spend 4.5 days with. lol.
But I too go for the bands, I figure I am in the 1% of the "other crowd". But it's all good.
I'm in Ohio so my solo drive is going to be a bit rougher, have not decided yet if I am going to try and leave the night before or early Thursday morning. I'm getting too old for the all nighters drive.
Sorry no good advise for you, but you're not alone in being alone.

yes i think you will be fine. i would say that its safe. i guess anything can happen anywhere but im a female and i feel safe at roo walking around by myself. once you get to inforoo you wont be alone at all anyway
I went solo in 08 and it looks like I am doing so again this year. No worries at all. I'm not the sort that needs much interaction, though. I just brought a book for down time and all was good.
I almost went solo this yr to my moron brother. Wasnt worried, was gonna be nice and able to see what i wanted and when i wanted. Dont worry. Were coming from BHAM, AL

solo last year and this year. i am not a real big social butterfly so i was fine doing it solo. it was actually nice to do what i wanted when i wanted. not having to keep up with someone else was nice.
I'm actually looking forward to going solo as Roo gets closer. I think the freedom will be nice, and being in Camp Inforoo should be cool. I get to camp with cool people and a good sized group, but when I want, I can do whatever.
I might be going solo this year. Although I know some people volunteering, i can't ride into bonnaroo with them. I'm not worried about driving from florida alone, I just think it's going to be awkward at the campsite with people and their friends all around me. It most likely won't be like that, i know, but it's still weird to me.
It probably won't be. Most people are really nice, and if you told them you were alone would probably let you chill with them (I would). You also won't really spend all that much time around camp probably except in the mornings when the sun wakes you up really early.
Hi, I'm over 50 and this is my first roo. I going solo and this board has been a huge help. I've been wanting to experience roo for several years. This is the first year it works for me, but unfortunately not my friends. I'm looking forward to meeting fellow rooers and having a great time.
I'm going solo too! And this is my first time. And like you, I'm definitely in the minority of people going for the music. I'm planning on camping in Camp Inforoo as it seems like a cool spot full of friendly people. I've read a lot about going solo and every says I should be fine so I've stopped worrying about that. Once I get my tent set up near nice neighbors, I'm sure I'll be fine.
