Anyone going to risk bringin down some nice beer? I'm thinkin about it, but only if I could meet up some other Beer Geeks and maybe get a mini-tasting going on, anyone down? Either way, I'm going to have a bunch of canned beer at my site; Harpoon, Cisco brewing, New England Brewing Company, Oskar Blues and 21st Amendment.
Also, will definitely have some homebrew no matter what! Find me, I'll be more than willing to share
sounds awesome. i need some help with american beers - so many great ones, so many terrible ones.
We just hit the beer store today. We went to a huge beer distributor (PA) and I was actually surprised how many awesome options we had available in cans. We came away with:
30 pack of Miller Lite (for the hot parts of the day) 24 pack of Newcastle 24 pack of 16oz Red Stripe! 24 pack of Dale's Pale Ale 12 pack of Foster's oil cans
All of this is for 3 guys that like to drink. I'll probably grab a plastic 1/5th of captain this week and we will be set on the booze.
party at your campsite!!
If you see a bizzare flag that reads: Nate Dogg Village...feel free to stop by for a beer!
(unless you are an evil, cooler stealing wook then I lied and if you see that flag we don't have any beer!)

They do. Pennant, Brown, and Lager. It's rather pricey though. But totally worth it.
A distant relative of mine who lives near Manchester and is familiar with Bonnaroo told me that no outside beer is allowed to be brought into the festival grounds at all. Is this true? I can't imagine that they wouldn't allow you to bring beer in. I know that glass bottles are not allowed. Someone please clarify

Maybe your distant relative is unsure about the difference between "festival grounds" and "centeroo". True that no glass is allowed. No glass beer bottles, no glass mustard jars, no glass bottles period. I'm trying to think of a way to sneak in one small bottle of Dave's Insanity, any suggestions? No, not like THAT, you perverts! I'm not doing that. Imagine if it came unscrewed from walking? I meant like what kind of small plastic container could I use?

yeah that's what i thought too. and i dont know what Dave's Insanity is so i can't help you out with that one, sorry
That's some hot sauce that you would not want comin' up in that bizznass. And I agree with Vector Viking, you can bring beer into the festival, just not the main festival grounds known as Centeroo, where all the music and official vending, and official beer selling takes place. Although some may try and successfully sneak some in...

Pennant and Brown are my favorite. But I talked to my Brooklyn sales rep at work and Brooklyn will not sell called beer in NY, so it looks like some Monk's Blood for me and rolling my clothes around the glass bottles

Just so you know they have Brooklyn in the Broo'ers tent. Brown and Lager. Find a tattooed boy standing there and I'll totally buy you a beer.
this is what the gf and i have thus far, all canned except the liquor which will go into plastic: 2x 12pack Amstel Light 1x 12 pack Heineken Light 1x 12pack Blue Moon 1x 12pack Dale’s Pale Ale 1x 6pack Narragansett 16oz 1x 6pack Wittekerke 2x Sapporo 22oz 8x Corona Light 20oz 1x 750ml Maker’s Mark 1x 750ml Captain Morgan Private Stock 1x 750ml Grey Goose L'Orange
...we will definitely try to get more variety of beer on the way up and hit the broo'ers tent when in c-roo (but several beer stands had Summerfest on draft last year which is a nice option for the proximity)

!!! Red Stripe in a can............How much was it? I'm going to scour the liquor stores in my area tomorrow night for that...otherwise, I'm going cheap and buying PBR and Michelob Ultra (gotta watch the carbs hehe)

It wasn't cheap. $32-34 iirc. I tried one the other day in the heat and it went down great!

Just for the fact that you said Pennant is a fav.
But wont there be a lot of tattooed boys there? Just like if i say Look for the Platinum Blond chick, I'm sure there will be many Platinum blond chicks.

I keep seeing people post about freezing their water bottles to use as ice and then drink when they thaw. Is there any chance of them breaking when the ice expands? If it helps I want to put them in now and pull them out in about 24 hours when we leave.

Depends on the water bottle. Some bottles may just get all bulgy as the ice expands, others may crack. If you open the tops a little on each bottle to allow the air to escape you can prevent that from happening. Only bad part is that you can't bring opened bottles into Centeroo.
I've got an assortment of good cans: Modus Hoperandi, Dale's, Gordon's, Bombshell Blonde, Wittekirk. Plus I think MMJJ's bringin me some Surly Cynic. I might be up for a beer swap if anyone is near wherever I'm camped and has good stuff.
