First time going to roo, I was wondering what other peoples experiences had been like showing up to the farm on weds night and camping far away from centeroo. Thanks!
It's super easy and awesome. There is barely any line to wait in. 10 minutes tops. You do camp about 45 minutes aways from Centeroo. But that 45 minute walk in the morning is a nice wake up and your campsite is kinda secluded from the rest of the campsites so camp is a little bit quieter. Which is good. My crew and I go in Wednesday night every year. It lets us get set up before most people, and an extra night in the most amazing place in the world. Plus Thursday you can be in centeroo all day and wandering and get that out of your system.

In 08 we drove though the night and got there about 9am, very short wait to get thought but yes the walk is far from the Dr. No section. Still that's my plan this year. Rather be walking around Centerroo then waiting on the freeway.

We're going in Wednesday but we'll be in access. So we get in a day early plus get to camp close thanks to my boy Wolfaroo. Do they use the exit off of 65 (111 or 112)?

Thanks for the advice! I think I will go weds night, as I drive a hybrid and waiting in line for so many hours without moving much will kill my battery (It's happened before, and it sucks). DO I just go through the regular entrance?

Do know before you go they tear through cars on wensday night. The one time we got there that early we barely waited at all, but the entire time we did wait was watching everyone infront of us have everything taken out of there car, torn though, and generaly harrased.
our car def was not torn apart. Some people like to exaggerate or had a real crap gate person. I think im going to go with exaggerate though. haha. Yeah they prob search your car more so than if you were to go in thursday but whatever. It was a basic 1 2 3 your in.
The way I cram stuff into my vehicle for festivals, I pity the fool who decides he needs to see what's under the EZ-Up, which is under the cot, which is under the cooler, under several cases of PBR, etc..,
I sure as hell am not lifting all that crap out. I'm handicapped, dammit!
I've heard mention that there's some kind of shortcut from BFE into Centeroo.. anyone care to describe this shortcut to me? I was camped in BFE last year and always had to go all the way around to the arch. Contemplating arriving Wednesday night, and knowing of a shortcut would make my decision much easier.
As far as searches go, I've only ever had a problem when the local cops marked my car going in for a special search. The Bonnaroo staff doing the searches seem to mainly be looking for large, easy targets.. such as tanks of nitrous. The cops on the other hand, took absolutely everything apart, dumped all of our clothes out, unrolled our socks, etc. Took forever to repack that.

The shortcut is a walkway around VIP and enters at the back left of the What stage.
When coming from BFE: when you come to the intersection where you normally turn right and walk down to cut to the main entrance. cross the road and turn left instead. There is a fenced in walkway that opens, I believe, on Friday at Noon. It does close everynight at some point so when you leave from the late nights you still have to go out the archway.

Dude it was NUTS in 08. There was a cargo van and an SUV in front of us and they pulled everything out of both of them, opened up all the bags, dug through all the coolers, took stuff off the roof racks. It was NUTS! And the whole time they were going "Yep, smell that, smells like some reefer."
I felt my asshole clinch up when I pulled up to the gate even though I didn't have anything to hide, but they didn't even search my car and they just looked in my friends cooler (He was riding in a pickup truck behind us). So it's luck of the draw, really. But do know there is a great chance they will search the ever living shit out of you.

It is supposed to open an hour before the first artist on What and close 1/2 after the last. I've experienced some days where they didn't open it until the band on What had already started, though. If you've got the time (and the energy) and there's someone you want to see right around that time, you may find it's a better use of your time to go around. Or they might have all of the kinks worked out at this point....
this is our first roo and we decided to head in wednesday night, then haul our stuff to tent-only the next morning. this seems like the best option for us. 2 questions: 1- would anyone recommend a fairly cheap cart/wagon/method for transporting to tent-only? 2- do they give you a map/program/schedule on wednesday night?
If there are cops searching outside the gates, are they just looking for NO NO WORD! or also if your underage with alcohol?
I'm not sure what they're looking for. No No's for sure but I suppose if you are underage and they discover a bunch of beer they'll confiscate it. (And general security will confiscate glass bottles as well.)
So do they have NO NO WORD!!! dogs or anything like that on site sniffing things out??
Do they search the people? Make them pull out pockets and such? Or do they just focus on your belongings?
The only way you'll run into dogs is on the roads of Tennessee before you enter the festival. I've never seen dogs at the gates. Also they do not pat down any people. Put it this way, if you have ever snuck anything into a concert before then you already know how to get away with it. Even at their worst the people searching cars will just open bags and shuffle things around. My last two years all they did was take a look in the car, move a couple things to the side, and ask if I had anything I shouldn't. Super easy.
BTW me and Vector are going in Access @ about 4am. Perhaps a meeting of the beards and beers would be in order with wolfaroo and QS.

Count on it. We hope to be in between 11 and 12 Wednesday night. You know what we look like. Also Wolfaroo has an IU ezup so that'll be easy to spot. It'll be us and 4 others. All good peeps.

So if I am showing up on wed what entrance do I head for??? The one off of 24 or the one around back???
I'd like to know this also. I don't even know how to get to the back entrance. I should have paid attention to how we got there the last couple years. If I end up skipping the wally world scene and I won't be following others, I would need to know this.
