We carry everything valuable into centeroo with us. As for the cooler... you can chain it to two dog stakes sitting side-by-side and lock them together (they are those things that you twist into the ground to attach a dog run to). To keep the beer sneaks out, you can keep your cooler locked by running a bike chain through the handles. Little bit of labor involved, but it works.
We did zip ties, figure it was enough of a deterrent to keep the opportunist at bay but at the same time not advertise that I have something of value in me.
