Beer should def be bought in KY. Cigarettes are $5.00 in KY for namebrands. If coming through Owensboro, there is a super cheap liquor store on South Frederica St. It's called "The Liquor Store". It's the only place I buy beer!!
Bring me some BBQ from Moonlight !! I live in Madisonville not to far from you.
I think it would be awesome to have a Kentuckiana Inforoo meetup. We could meet in Owensboro, nom on some Moonlight then get our hillbilly drunk on at the 8 Ball! No really, I just think you and pondo in the same room would make for an interesting and possibly mind bending evening.
And to stay on subject, Kentucky is the best place to get your beer and smokes.
Are the interstate cops as ruff as some of the stories I have heard? Oh and do they have dogs going up and down the lines of cars? I would think it would kill the loccal economy to be too tuff on the rooers
If you get caught with alcohol in a car and no 21 year olds it will go really really badly for you. Like pretty much mini dui bad from what I have heard.
if you're under 21 just keep any alcohol you buy in your trunk with all packages sealed so liquor bottles sealed, case cardboard not torn, and obviously all beer cans closed. trunk searches require a probable unless you are being detained which in that case, they can search wherever but if you are not being arrested and they ask to search your trunk or your glovebox, so long as it is locked, you can politely decline and be on your way if asking this question "am i being detained" results in a "no". ive never had a problem with this back in the day before i was 21 and always had alcohol in the trunk. although all of the above may be true in ohio, not sure how it works in tennesse although i do know trunk searches are illegal without a probable cause or reasonable suspicion unless you have been arrested. also keep in mind that when you are pulled over and the reason has been determined and it does not have to do with suspicion, police then lose their reasoning for search. so if youre pulled over and given a speeding ticket, then SPEEDING is why you were pulled over and therefore there is no cause for police to check your trunk and if done so, you can take them to court.
^^This is all true but I have seen reasonable suspicion being that the person would not allow a search. Or the cop just says he smelled pot (your word against his.) Stupid, Catch-22 situation but the right to privacy is all but dead in the US in real terms. Driving legal and safe is the best, and only real, way to avoid confiscation of alcohol.
Yes, I know you could fight in court and maybe win but you'd possibly be taken in, miss some or all of Roo, and have to drive back to TN ( or where ever) for court, and all for a couple cases of beer. Not worth it. Remain courteous, deny the search if you wish, they will search anyway, lose your beer/etc., buy more.
I'm taking I-81 south from VA. Are there any places any one suggests stopping to stock up on beer on the drive down? I'm hoping to find a place that has Newcastle, Magic Hat, and Fat Tire in cans.

whoever had their car searched based on reasonable suspicion from not allowing for the car search missed out on a great oppotunity to take that officer to court. you have to have reasonable suspicion before asking to search the trunk, not bc it was not allowed.
but yes, in general a cop will make up whatever they want as an excuse to search your trunk because unfortunately too many police officers have nothing better to do but feel high and almighty.
my only point above really was that if it's hidden right, and nothing suspicious is going on with any of the passengers or inside the cab of the car, there should be no reason for a search of the trunk and denying a search allows for you to leave. knowing that, its an individual preference of whether or not its worth it to bring alcohol, keep it hidden in the trunk, do the speed limit, dont smell like anything illegal or have blood shot eyes, and most likely beat the odds of even being pulled over, and being searched at that, to in the end, have alcohol and not have to worry about trying to buy some off someone, try and find someone who will buy it for you, or even worse...have both of those options fail and not have alcohol for the fest OR not risk the ticket of possesion of alchohol if you by chance get pulled over and additionally get searched and get a hefty possesion ticket and a bad mood to start off your weekend.

and not all police officers insult your rights. maybe in tennessee they do, but twice when i was pulled over and asked to give permission for a trunk search, i denied it and no questions were asked bc there was no probable cause for a search bc i was pulled over for speeding the one time i was asked for a trunk search and not stopping at a stop sign for three seconds and looked tired the second time asked for a trunk search.
for the most part, they just hope you say yes bc you are nervous, or say no but say something slightly admittedly that would then give them probable cause.
best bet is to say no and immidiately ask if youre being detained, and then be on you way.
but in conclusion it all really is a crapshoot and totally depends on how risky the underager is. either way, the most important factor is that youre headed to BONNAROO! ;D
I am heading to Bonnaroo and am under 21. If I plan on keeping beer in the trunk. Should I fear getting searched at all? I wouldn't break any laws on the way down, so I would not get pulled over. I have heard police patrol along the line getting in and search cars. Also, should I be afraid of the entrance search? I do not look 21, but will have a fake if they ask for ID. If its well hidden in the trunk, is it even a problem?
I've never been, but I am in the same boat. I will answer your question before someone jumps down your throat for posting something that has been covered numerous times.
Don't drink/smoke in the car on the way. If you get pulled over before you make it, you will get your alcohol taken and likely a M.I.P. If you get the random DTF search, the former also applies unless you have someone 21+ with you. The volunteers usually will not care if you are underage and a fake is likely to get you in more trouble if you do encounter the cops. Be smart, don't draw attention to yourself, and don't bring glass bottles.
Try reading around the boards some before posting a question.

I would worry about natural selection. I mean are you mentally deficient or something? If you are underage and you go broadcasting you are bringing beer on a public forum, then you are asking for every one to get searched. So do us a favor and think a little.
