"This year Bonnaroo will provide attendees with a new digital message board powered by Charter Communications and Cisco Systems. Using new software specially designed for Bonnaroo, simply enter a name into a computer at any Charter/Cisco internet station to send a message or check to see if someone has left one for you. In addition, a map of the area is included to allow you to hook up where and when you want. The digital message boards are available on internet access stations in the Charter/Cisco trailer and tent in Centeroo. So everyone will be able to surf the internet, leave messages, set up meetings, and communicate to the outside world."
Could we use this to communicate with fellow Inforoo people? I'm not sure how long the lines will be for this, or if I will be able to tear myself away from Bonnaroo's other pleasures to check this message board out. If it is easily accessible, we could leave messages to the name "Inforoo" which all of us could access and interact with. Does anyone have a clear idea of how a setup like this would work? Does this seem like a good idea?
I think the success of this idea will depend on the prevalence and accessibilty of the terminals. If they're like...everywhere and *free* and you don't have to wait in line too long, it'll be great. I'd use em.
However, it also says that you can browse the web on them, so instead of throwing our messages in with the rest of the Rooers' on the "official" board, we could just use this board to hook up...
Maybe Adam could create another section for use during 'Roo to post directions to your camp, party invitations, last-minute meetups and messages, etc....
