Hello, first timer here. My gf and I are going to have to show up Thursday afternoon because of work. Is there anything we should know in advance or be aware of? I'm assuming we're going to have a long walk ahead of us. Thanks
I've always been under the impression that the earlier you get there, the further back you're placed. Last year, my friend and I left Tullahoma at about 6am (we couldn't wait any more, we had to start the journey) and didn't get directed into the campsites until about 8:30 or 9am. I think we got put into Pussy Galore? I'm not sure, I'd have to look at the map from last year.
This year, I think we're leaving around 9:30 or 10am, hopefully we'll get placed alittle closer than last year. I don't mind walking, but 40 minutes just to get to the arch is a tad much for me. I'm probably exaggerating, maybe I'm not, but that long walk feels like it takes hours.
Thursday afternoon is a total crap shoot. You will not likely end up way out at the ends of the festival, BFE, as they fill those with people that arrive early however you could be anywhere from 5-30 minutes walk away from Centeroo, it just depends on what sections they are filling when you get to that point. If you are further away you will have the option of using the campground taxis or shuttle bus if you are tired and don't mind spending a little extra dough.
Our caravan of 11 cars got there in the afternoon last year. We got split up due to the police closing off the temporary exit mid-caravan. The first four cars ended up close enough to see the arch from their tent. We ended up in Hansel. I swear their parking pattern is chaos theory in motion.
In 2008, we came in late Thursday because I couldn't leave Cincinnati, OH until 1pm. Forgot the kitschy name of where we parked, but it was only a pleasant 10-15 minute walk. This year I might do that same since none of the Thursday bands excite me.
