So on Twitter I saw where someone said that the gates dont open till 7am on Thurs. A little worried as I planned on going in on Wed night I shot Bonnaroo an email.
I am planning on driving in on Wed night and arriving around midnight. I recently read somewhere the gates wont open till 7am on Thurs. When is the exact time you guys open up for people to be able to come in and setup camp?
And this is what they just sent me back:
Thanks for your interest in Bonnaroo. The parking lot and campground will open at about 7:00 a.m. on Thursday and will close around 12:00 p.m. on Monday. You are allowed to enter after that point and leave whenever you need to. The concerts will begin around begin 5pm on Thursday, 11am/noon on Friday and will end around midnight on Sunday.
Ummmm WHAT THE quack! I guess we CANT go in on Wed night this year?
Can anyone expand on this or have other information?

They state every year that the campgrounds open on Thursday and every year they start letting people in on Wednesday night. Keep in mind - if you go in on Wednesday night - you WILL be in BFE - no ifs, ands or buts about it AND - you cannot get to tent only until Thursday morning - if you go in on Wednesday but plan to camp in Tent Only - you will have to camp by your car on Wednesday night and wait until they allow you to walk out of BFE to Tent Only.
The two years we went in on Wednesday night - one year it was around midnight and one year it was around 9:00 p.m. but I have heard that they will start letting people in as early as around 6-7 p.m. (I just cannot verify that from experience)

Glad to know I can be of help even if I'm not going this year
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
Nope - Boz and I won't be there this year - just couldn't do it financially - chose to go to The Hangout Fest - cheaper and closer for us and had a line up that we liked better.
But I will miss the epicness that is 'roo with long sets and music ALL night.

And - all of my Bonnaroo buddies
I'll dedicate a shot of Tennessee whiskey to each of you beneath the Bonnaroo arch, and damn your unfortunate absence.

Hindsight being what it is, they started letting some people into BFE then shut it down when people started getting stuck in the mud. I left Murfreesboro at 2:45 am and didn't get on to the farm until about 10am.

That was the noob parking attendants faults. People were fine when they let them get a run at it and held the next car back on the road. Then they made the mistake of lining people up too close to each other in the grass and people were trying to crawl through the mud slowly and got stuck. O never noticed the cars stopped coming in but I was preoccupied with some beers and setting up camp.

My lowered 2001 Prelude made it all the way to the back of Pod 1 near the tree line. They must have rly been creepin to get stuck. We got into Manchester around 10 pm or so and got into camp around 11:30 pm. Honestly, I would rather wait in line for a few hours on Thursday than be in BFE.

I went in wednesday night. Got put right at pod 1. Which I believe is classified as BFE. But it's really not that bad. Oh no how terrible, I have to walk further and mingle with all the AWESOME people along the way :]. Guys that sit on the side of the road selling $1 PBR. How could you go wrong?
Point of the story. BFE =/= bad. As for the wet campsites, I didn't see that, but if you are camping, ALWAYS bring a tarp as a groundcloth. One or two extra ones isn't a bad idea either, they are very useful, cheap, and easy to store.
Yeah, was in BFE this year and didn't mind it. I had to walk just as far from Randolph Duke in 09, and I really enjoyed going in wednesday night and meeting all my neighbors and drinking with them and such. Beats the hell outta walmart parking lot, if you ask me.
i think its a pretty good idea for them to consider charging for a better campsite and letting people in earlier but thats sorta what VIP is isnt it?i guess you could have tiers of camping???

Hells no. The festival is expensive enough for my broke booty. I like the system they have now.
I've been in BFE every year and I've been lucky enough to be far away from the muddy messes. There were definitely a few areas in pod 1 that looked like the mud was eating tents by the road. I saw a taxi get stuck out there too.

Agreed....else they might as well start up a "timeshare" policy for prime campsites for repeat Rooers....
I believe me and my b-roo crew are taking an RV this year, but last year we were in Pod 1 right at the edge of where the road curved and it was nice. Lots of friendly traffic, but the the sun that wakes you up when you've only been asleep for a few hours is unforgiving.
Just a quick FYI, going in Wednesday night doesn't always guarantee parking in BFE.
Yes, over the years I've come to find that you most likely end up in BFE, but you're not doomed. I've parked people all over the place on Wednesday, and that's due to numerous variables. Weather, gate congestion, reduced staff, any number of things, they all make Wednesday night a complete nightmare.
I'll tell you this with 100% certainty though, we move cars A LOT fast on Thursday morning in comparison to Wednesday night. I believe this is due to a safety concern, but it's very, very true. With that said, there is also a much larger crowd on Thursday morning than Wednesday night, so go ahead and just roll the dice.
Personally, I'd just prefer to get my campsite setup as early as possible. If I were entering, I'd go in Wednesday night. I wouldn't sweat it if I couldn't make it though.
I was in Camp Pussy Galore and didn't mind it at all. It was a little bit of a hike to Centeroo, but it was also quiet at night. And our neighbors were awesome. We through an epic late night party after DMB on Sunday night. Perfect end to 'Roo.
