Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I've seen a few photos of you guys using hammocks at your campsites. What do you use to support them? I've got a great Brazilian hammock that I use in my backyard suspended between two fence posts, so I can't exactly bring those with me. I thought it would be awesome in our campsite but I'm not sure how to hang it. The poles of our EZ-UPs are definitely not strong enough. Thoughts?
I'm thinking some kind of post-rope-stake system.
PS - this is my first post AND my first Bonnaroo. I've been lurking for awhile and all your posts have been EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you!!
I usually bring one with it's own stand. But I've also brought t-posts and a post driver which has worked in the past. A post driver will easily drive t-posts into hard soil and they are easy to remove when you leave. I usually angle the posts a bit and it works fairly well.
Would there not be enough trees to set up my ENO hammock?
Are there no trees in the tent only?
All the trees are full of the VIP treehouses. Those are the bomb, they have A/C!
Yeah, it's a farm. Trees are few and far between and not in the camping area. The closest thing to a tree will be one of those ginormous poles with lights that are near the porta-potties and street corners. They're like sequoias.

This is what I will be using as well. Me and Troo know what's up
Thanks guys! Turns out I didn't have room in my car for the hammock itself, but next year I'll definitely spring for a stand. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I was thinking about getting a foldy hammock for my triumphant return to the farm next year. I have a recliney chair that I slept in last year, but I do love me some floaty swingin'. Might try the posts, though. They seem to be a nice compact solution.
The stakes work well as long as youre careful with getting in. I have a stand personally which holds up really well, but i understand why people don't want to spend the money (though lets face it, it gets used outside of Roo lol)
Dont go digging post holes. Im sure tha farm would appreciate people not tilling the soil. Lol
that looks pretty cool and reasonably priced too. does it assemble/disassemble fairly easily - and most importantly, whats the risk that it will spontaneously disassemble when one is sleeping on it?

Thats pretty much exactly what i have, minus the blingin' cup holder :-D
They wont fall apart while in use. The only downfall to that type is the space factor from the poles. If you can figure that out, its the best setup for Roo imo. Mine holds two people withoutan issue, swinging side to side
Edit: i.e. I like to swing side to side in a hammock, and i can do so with my wife chillin in it with me
^^ I'm definitely going to investigate one or more of these. I used cots last year - being up off the ground helped keep things aerated and cooler, plus some storage room underneath. this looks more comfortable. I don't need a cup holder while I sleep.

Hammocks >>>. Cots. >>> matresses. >>>> camping mats/ground. (yes, ac wiith a bed beats all lolin)
The cot is great because you can literally have four inches of standing water all around you and youll still be dry and comfy. The hammock is better because air can get through underneath, whch is huge during the day if you put shade over it.
The problem with cots is that you end up stewing in your sweat mid day, even under shade outside your tent.
Just be sure to bring a blanket to put under you as 3am can feel chilled with the cooler air coming up from underneath. Theres only a two hour window where thats even a possibility though
It's cheap but still seems to be a pretty good product. Although they make it seem like it is a giant, I might have to forgo this just because of it's size

i have an eno hammock i use for hiking/camping the appalachian trail but for bonnaroo i use a cot. it folds up like a chair and it keeps me off the ground, plus i dont have to worry about a stand.
