okay, so here's what i was thinking...hoping to get some thoughts from you fine folks...
i have never brought a camelback to roo before, but i am considering doing it this year simply because in the heat my thirst can become insane. however, i know that they do not always let you into centeroo with a full camelbak, so i would have to drink the sulphur water that's provided there.
it's not THAT bad, but sometimes the taste/smell of it gets to me a little, so i was thinking...couldn't i just bring some gatorade/powerade powder packets to throw in with the water and mask the taste a bit...plus a few extra electrolytes never hurt when you are sweating your ass off (oh god, i cannot even say the word "electrolytes" anymore without thinking of the movie "idiocracy").
so, what do you guys think...would putting something like gatorade in it completely mess up a camelbak? like i said, i have never had one, so i do not know how hard they are to clean. and if possible, i would like to keep mine for next year.

I think I was only hassled about having water in my bladder one time, and even then I got in with it. And the water inside Centeroo tastes fine. No weird taste you have to worry about.

ive done this before (not at roo though). I just bought a pack of the powerade and ice tea things that you put inside water bottles.
most camelbak's hold 2 liters, so i think i used like 3 or 4 of the packets every time i filled it up. it worked great, and covered up the poop tasting water that we had...
There are filtered water stations in Centeroo now so you don't have to deal with the sulfur taste. Saved me last year because I can't stand the smell or taste of sulfur water.
Yeah, the filtered ones and like big blue mushrooms. I know there is one in the What Stage field not far from the arch and there is one near the fuse barn. There may be another 1 or 2 somewhere else in Centeroo. And there is the old style sulfur water stations with the troughs inside.
I am a semi expert in the field of random liquids in camelbaks
I have ruined my fair share of them by putting odd things in them. This is why i keep a fun drink one and a water one.
Putting powdered drink stuff in them shouldnt leave a bad taste in them or ruin them but pick up some of those camelbak chlorine cleaning tabs...a few days worth of heat +funky drink = mold and other bad stuff
however, i have found putting anything carbonated in it tends to ruin the camelbak for a few washes at least. It gets into the plastic and keeps the taste in the water.
Every year i have a mountain bike ride where we fill up our camelbaks with beer. Cant use that pack for water for a while after. Right now my 2 liter pack tastes like woodchuck
I've brought a camelbak the past 3 Roo's and filled it with Gatorade everyday. No issues with the bladder. Never once have the security asked us to dump it out. It really just depends on what security person you get.

Last year I brought a camelback which was always fully stocked with my beverage of choice and never once was hassled/had a problem with security getting into Centeroo....plus I always carry in extra plastic bottles of water/chaser/my favorite posion and out of the past 3 years I've gone was only hassled about the amount of "soda" bottles one time and just had to throw away 1-2 of the 4-5 bottles...............so NO WORRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The potable water in the trailers may taste a little weird, but there are four filtered water stations on the map (3 in Centeroo, 1 in the campgrounds). The lines can get really long, but it's worth it if you want clean-tasting water.
This is the first i've heard about ppl getting talked to about having water in their camelback. I always have it filled going in and out. I hope they don't bust balls about that this year....
Also, instead of buying the camelback tablets, I use baking soda to clean my camelbacks. cheaper, and always available.
well this is all good to hear! i have not been to bonnaroo in a few years and they definitely did not have the filtered water stations when i was there.
i still think i will bring some for variety and in case of super long filtered water lines. i'm getting uber excited now...leaving tomorrow night! ;D
