Oh hey, did you camp up there or were you able to squeeze in later? I don't mind if you squeezed in ftr, I'm sure curious if I met you. I met a lot of really cool people while camping for LCD.
i got there at like 9:30 and was pretty much right in the center. i was sitting next to this dude named phillip that made his own (awesomely realistic) wristband and went to get water for everyone at some point and in front of the girls with the glow in the dark body paint. my buddy had one of those light up shirts on that goes with the sound. i know i talked to everyone that was in my general area so i'd be amazed if you were waiting there and we didn't meet.
Nice! I know exactly who you are (due to your friends light up shirt ) but I don't think we ever technically met. I was on the other side of the guy who made that amazing wristband (I wasn't even mad he tricked the system and got in free because he did such a good job with it) sitting right in front of the girls with the glow paint, and I ended up using some myself. I ended up putting some on my shirt that said "Dance Me Clean" and my friend was the guy that ended up just letting everyone draw all over his chest and back with the paint, so I'm sure you saw us at some point. ;D
Most energy I saw from them out of the three times I've seen them. Amazing show. If you heard it on the webcast and are complaining about it, please kindly stop talking.
Also rhino hit the nail on the head, James was just being James, it didn't seem like he was actually pissed off.
Did you see the tall guy in the green hat and shirt throwing glow sticks almost the whole time? I saw you in the crowd and was a little back from you and about 15-20ft to your left. He was about 10 feet in front of me and he had his small friend pick up glow sticks almost the whole show and they both just stood there throwing glow sticks at the stage. I wanted to run up behind them and punch them in the back of the head.
And if those two guys are reading this on the board, please stop going to shows and go fuck yourselves.

LCD and Thievery were my two favorite shows this year. Both due in part to a great crowd. I danced my way into the end of Bassnectar and was a few rows back, maybe a little left of center. Everyone around me was a big LCD fan. we were all talking before the show saying the time has come, laughing, talking about how great Dance Yrself Clean is, ect. If anyone was around the two guys who make "glow stick grass" - I was behind them. The dancing in my part of the crowd was great. everyone was getting down together and sang along at appropriate times. One of the best shows I've seen in my three roo's. Wish they came out for more but I was still more than satisfied.

^Did you notice if the "glow stick grass" guys left during the set, because I am pretty sure that was my brother and his friend.
Edit: I just listened to New York I Love You... and remembered how much more awesome it was live, and I love the song off the album. LCD became one of the bands I would travel to see over this past weekend, James's vocals were amazing.

awesome! i totally remember you. i think we did actually talk about trying to get them to play dance yrself clean. in another crazy coincidence i'm pretty sure you're friend that got drawn all over was up close with me again for dan deacon wearing a rabbit costume, and he was one of the guys that started the dance off.
Where was my Beat Connection?? Ah oh well. Still an absolute blast. I was on the outskirts of the tent so I could have my dancing room. It's kind of a bummer that the crowd got James out of it, but what can ya do? Still sounded amazing.

I listened to a couple of songs but wasn't feeling it so I left and went to bed. My stomach was in knots all day long so Im sure that played a part in it. But I got great rest and raged til 5am on Saturday/Sunday am.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
I don't think there was "moshing" up front. Just a lot of really hard dancing from people being so into it... But I guess some could consider that moshing. =p Dance punk!
It was moshing. I was up in the front.
Pushing and shoving constantly, trying to keep from being trampled.
There's a difference between dancing and what was going on. I don't mean to sound like a Debbie Downer I enjoyed the show but it got a little too ridiculous.
Yeah, it was bad, but it wouldn't have bothered me nearly as much if I wasn't getting super dehydrated and hadn't seen a girl get groped by a guy who showed up five minutes later naked.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

Yea the one kid kept grabbing glowsticks at my feet. I thought about saying something but am not really a fan of confrontation (surprise!) in real life.

I thought James was pretty into the whole time. The glowstick comment before New York didn't really seemed like he was pissed at that point, but he seemed confused why people like throwing/getting hit with glowsticks.
Also this was my favorite show of the weekend. They did not disappoint one bit. All the old songs killed.
i loved this show. my second favorite set of the weekend after mumford and sons.
i haven't listened to the NPR recording yet, but i wouldn't be surprised if it didn't sound as good as being there live. i would have to say that for sure about the mumford and sons recording. it is still really good, but not as good as being there live. it is like they tried to drown out so much of the audience noise, it distorted it a bit.
i too, was embarrassed about the whole glow stick thing. i mean, the man asked you to stop. so stop.
my only sad time came when i realized they weren't going to play dance yourself clean (which is my favorite track off the new album), but i think someone said before they haven't played it at all live yet.
so boo on you haters!

haha, yep, that was him. ;D
That bunny outfit of his has gotten around, two Roo's and one Coachella.

after listening to the NPR recording twice and watching the live video feed once, i just can't accept that the reason james doesn't sing dance yourself clean is that it fucks up his voice. i mean, during yeah, he screams 'yeah' seriously like 100 times in a row and its raw as fuck. he must just not like that song
btw thisismyname, did you see dan deacon? that's the only show of the weekend that was more fun than LCD for me...not as 'good' musically, but so much fucking fun.
Wow. Fantastic set. Absolutely one of my top 5 of the weekend. My only exposure had been hearing This is Happening a couple of times prior to the festival, but even though I liked the CD, I never imagined I would enjoy this set as much as I did. Definitely walked away a brand new LCD fan.
The crowd on the left side (where I was) were perfect. Everyone dancing and having a great time. The throwing issue from the other side was a bit ridiculous - and not just the glow sticks. At one point someone hit James square in the left eye with a full glass of ice. Just not cool. I hope Karma gives those kids Herpes.
My only complaint is that I wish they had played a little longer and I wish they had played Dance Yourself Clean - but if life were perfect, then we probably wouldn't need things like Bonnaroo.

I thought it was a fantastic set, def one of my top sets of the wkend. The energy in the tent was fantastic (also wasn't very crowded, so anyone that said LCD was more popular on Inforoo was absolutely correct.) The crowd where I was (right in the middle of the tent) was fantastic. Met a cool dude who me and my friend chilled with. It was awesome. Was def disappointed with the set length though ( a theme of the wkend.) Did anyone go long?
Yep. I totally gave your little brother and his friend some water during the show/chatted with them.
Haha, that's awesome. Bonnaroo can be a surprisingly small world sometimes. He came back the next morning telling me how you didn't need to bring water to late nights since people will just give you some when you want it. He can be an ass.

are you sure about this? i was watching him pretty closely the whole time, unless the asian chick had me mesmerized, but i never saw him get hit with more than a couple floppy glow sticks. he didn't really get hit by that many, lots were thrown but the only times he got hit were when someone threw a handful and one or two connected. that only happened a couple times. he almost caught one once too.
anyway, anyone know if the times when he changed the lyrics were improvised or if he does that at other shows? it looked like he was half drunk and just having a great time saying whatever popped into his head. even if he didn't change the lyrics a lot of songs had really different sounds to them, especially all my friends and yeah. that industrial steam sounding noise during yeah was especially fucking awesome.

ahaha that's funny. I could tell he and his friend needed it more than I did, I had been in their position the night before. One of them ended up finishing off my water but I definitely thought nothing of it. Let him know my friend and I had a great time while they were there. Such a small Roo.
Oh hey, did you camp up there or were you able to squeeze in later? I don't mind if you squeezed in ftr, I'm sure curious if I met you. I met a lot of really cool people while camping for LCD.
Also, for anyone interested...
I <3 the fine print. ;D
Does your setlist still have the green tape on it? Because if not, then you stole that shit right out of my hands hahaha, leaving me with just the green tape :-(.
By the way, I'm a lurker just now popping up. I was dead center against the rail between Nancy and James and RIGHT next to the asian (?) guy (from Milwaukee I believe) and his friend in the Drunk Girls outfits and some kid whose backpack we in the front kept watch over... I was wearing the "This is Happening" t-shirt. The crowd in the front was intense - I was surprised I didn't have any bruised ribs from that show. I also agree the glowstick throwing was ridiculous.. I don't even understand it from the beginning? even though throwing them around in the crowd is kinda cool.... and I guess you can thank me and another person because we were the ones that lifted the fat, naked guy over the barricade for security to finally handle? (no thanks needed :-P).
I don't know, I thought it was pretty boring. Maybe it was because I was really tired or something, but I just thought it was rather bland and boring...but that's just me.
