Hi everyone,
First of all thanks for all of your input and helpful threads. I've been lurking here to try and best prepare myself for Bonnaroo this year. I went in 07 with my ex and best friend, but wanted to really make the most of my trip this time and do my own thing. Thanks to you I was very well prepared and had the absolute best time of my life!!!
My plan was simple: to see as much music as possible and experience everything that I could manage with very little stopping. I started off in Orlando and drove to Cocoa Beach to meet up with my carpool crew. We arrived on the farm campgrounds around 7am Thursday after a 13 hour drive. Running off literally no sleep my adrenaline had me pumped up as I introduced myself to the surrounding neighbors and made friends while waiting for Centeroo to open.
After a delay on the opening (Anyone know what was up with that?) I managed to get in and find my way around eventually camping out for The Entrance Band right up front who totally rocked and were a great way to start off the weekend.
From then on out I was there from the first thing in the morning until almost the last show at night. Highlights include: shaking Conan O'Brien's hand, getting a vocal lesson from Stevie Wonder, crowd surfing at Weezer, getting confetti rained on me at Flaming Lips, and playing my music (singing and guitar) for random people in the campgrounds after DMB.
I got to see so much, and even though I didn't manage absolutely everything I still got to see most of it. I made lots of friends, and I was sending out all sorts of good karma. Especially with my mist fan (Best thing ever, made everyone fall in love with me) and the first aid kit, water, and sunblock I had really helped out a few people in serious need. It certainly came back to me as I got up front for nearly every show and especially the ones I really wanted to see.
Before I go on too much longer I just want to say that thanks to your suggestions I had the best time of my life and my experience was near perfect except for a few minor complaints that can be overlooked.
i solorooed in 08 and it was an awesome time! it definately changes the feel from going with a large group and i recommend to anyone. glad to hear you had a great time! see you next year...

Anyone that's roo'ed with me knows that I am prone to randomly wandering off by myself and making friends with the people that are standing around wherever I decide to stop. Not being tied down to someone else's schedule is the best way to roo. I highly suggest all group-rooers to try pretending that you're by yourself for a while. Mucho fun.
It is good to go through an experience, like Roo, with more than one people. You can relive it together afterward. But more so, I believe it is good to go off by yourself from time to time. That way everyone will have a different experience, a different story. In turn you get to live the experience from many different view points.
This year I met up with a bunch of virtually complete strangers (all organized on the internet) and had the best time ever, I now love all of them. Although at least one time I got seperated form them and just wandered off on my own for a while. This was important. Being in a group of 5+ people you have logistical problems and who wants to do what and whatnot. When I got lost I just wandered off doing random stuff. I cooled off with a beer in the cinema tent, I ate the most delicious corn fritters that I ever had, I saw some random shows. I would love to see all my people again, but wingin' it alone is not something that I am against.
I was sending out all sorts of good karma. Especially with my mist fan (Best thing ever, made everyone fall in love with me)
I ended up by myself a lot because of the schedule and I will say that w/a mist fan and having an excessive amount of water I met lots of cool people. If I wasn't so terrible w/names I'd probably have a lot more friends for future Bonnaroo experiences. Not to mention it's a lot easier to get through the crowd when you spray people w/a ice/water mix mist fan. ;D

What a wonderful story I went with my bf brother and a friend. I gave everyone my schedule so they know where abouts I might be. my brother would trail off but somehow we always found each other, my bf and I pretty much hung out all weekend a lover's roo we had a GREAT TIME, our friend she had her own experience as well. I did more sleeping than I thought! I woke up one night and had the "OH SHIT LOOK AT THE TIME WE TOTALLY FUCKING SLEPT THROUGH THE ALARM HOLY SHIT MISSING SHOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I was hoping to be more wired but I was more tired
