I may have posted this too late and my apologies for that, but remember for next year.
I used to work as a screen printer so I know about this: The boot leg t-shirts that you buy at Bonnaroo will fade like a mofo when you wash them. Some of them so bad that you can't even tell what was on them. The reason for this is because to silk screen a shirt first you must apply the ink and then run the shirt through a device that heats the ink up enough to set it into the cloth making it fade resistant. The bootleggers don't heat treat the shirts. They just screen print them and let them dry. It cuts down on the time and cost of producing the shirt. They know you'll never see them again so they don't care they are just after the quick sale.
So when you get home go to your local T-shirt screenprinting shop and get them to run your bootleg T-shirt through the heat machine. (It's actually called a dryer) and you will have a fade resistant T-shirt. I took mine to my local shop and they didn't even charge me anything. Don't wear the shirt after you buy it cause any dirt or mud you get on it will set in as well and never wash out.
Bonnaroo, if you would lower your t-shirt prices to something a little more reasonable than $35.00 I would buy your shirts. And if you would let me bring my own beer, food & water into Centeroo instead of a$$raping me when I'm thirtsy or hungry I might feel a little sorry for you, but hey, nothing personal, it's just business right?

Also, if you bought a tie-dye, it'd probably be a good idea to rinse it in the sink before you wash it with other clothes. Apparently some of the bootleggers didn't rinse the tie-dyes before they started selling them
My favorite bootlegg shirt story. As we were walking into centerroo this dude got popped with a bunch of shirts the security guard that took them was being a complete ass. After he took the shirts the patron just walked into centerroo. I yelled at the security asking them how much were they selling the shirts for, everyone in line started holding up money and shouting out prices like an auction. I then ran in and caught up with the guy who had them taken away and said, hey look he is selling your shirts ! That dude was like mother clucker and ran to the gate! I was too drunk to stick around, but I do rember it got crazy!
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
I got two at 25, one long sleeve at 30. What was 35?
As for bootleg shirt stories. Monday morning I was at the hotel in Murfreesboro and there was someone trying to push bootleg tye-dyes to me and some other people there who were also at Roo.

While we were waiting in line this dude was selling blue tie-dye shirts they were cute but he was sweating so bad the blue inks were running on his white shirt. I knew right away it was not worth the $25
Say hey johnny boy, the battle call United we stand, divided we fall Together we are what we can't be alone We came to this country you made it our home
the one I got in 08 is still nearly perfect. Whoever made those ones actually did a proper job. I mean, it's faded a bit, but no more than a 2 year old shirt normally would. The one I got this year looked a little sketchy so I took it down to my tshirt printing place and they ran it through the dryer for free. Should hold up/
The one I bought in '08 was of this really thick cotton. It was brown with skeletons on it. Anoyne else get this one? It has not thinned out or faded at all. It is the thickest high quality t-shirt I own......only thing bad is that I can't find it. I KNOW it has to be somewhere....just not sure where I hope I didn't loan it to someone who crashed on the couch drunk one night....don't think I would loan a Roo shirt but drinking makes me nicer than usual.

That sounds like one I bought, but I think it was in '07 and I haven't seen mine in a while either. I need to try to track it down.
Sheesh, the only bootlegger with tees that I came across wanted $15 and that was on Sunday. I offered him $10 and he turned me down. How come I can't find the cheap ones? I love my official shirt from this year. I got the "mint bunny" shirt. It's a lovely green color with a v-neck and nice and long. It doesn't have the line-up on it, but that's okay, I know who was there.
Check it out yall my second year i was working for a vendor (Jax Beach Seafood) and me and my boss got into it so I quit and I party the rest of the time found a gang of ground scores. My boy Just-in-Time was till working so I showed him all that i found and we ended up making some skrill of of it. We got into a fight cuz he dipped his hand in the cookie jar with out tellin me and we had this case of crystals quarst which he threw at the tree by the walk way that leads you out the back abd this hippie was like hey man you dropped something and my boy almost faded him. We left early that year cuz we had no way home. We started hitch hikeing towards the exit where the greyhound is and this ol country a** brotha stopped and got out looking like a black huck finn and said yall boys need a ride country as h*ll. So we climbed into the back of his truck and he gave us a ride to the next exit where the greyhound picked up. We sat there slamming beer and this dude rolled up and had some bootleg tshirts which he sold us for 3$ bucks each. This story has alot more too it but i don't want to violate the "no drug talk" agreement on this forum but it was defintly a trip literally

I feel like this must be a really cool story, if I were hip to the lingo and could make heads or tails of it. However, you did get a hell of a deal on the shirt.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
I know it was a crazy expience and theres alot of elements i left out because of the no dr*g talk deal. I have to say its was one of the craziest experiences of my entire life
My bootleg from '09 looks and feels fantastic! I'm calling BS on this thread...
Also I did see some TERRIBLE bootlegs for Phish in '09, I'm sure those ones would fade after a wash or two, but it's very easy to spot this very low level of quality...
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
it's not complete BS... however it depends on the types of inks used and printing process.
Some printing process do require inks to be UV cured for them to last longer.
But even if you get a shirt that wasn't properly UV cured and wash it by mistake, it won't instantly fade to nothing... it just won't last as long as one that has been cured.
