Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
OK let's be honest. If there was a four day music festival on the Farm in the fall, with a stellar line up, would you really go fight with the heat at roo? I am not saying I would leave Roo at all, I just want to know if anyone else thinks they are about to shoot themselves in the foot?
Just hypothetically. I mean, I would still go to Roo cause it fits my schedule and I love the heat. Have they left the door open for a cooler (temperature) festival to compete with Roo?

I think it's entirely feasible to have a two-day/weekend event planned for maybe 20,000-40,000. You schedule one or two big bands and fill the schedule with 2nd tier acts. You have the permanent What stage and maybe one big tent for shows. The infrastructure is in place to handle vendors and facilities. The article mentions a Christian music festival, which I'd avoid like the plague, but would fit nicely into this reduced-venue format.
You could have a single-day event with one or two big names, and a few smaller acts, all on the permanent What stage. But, allow patrons to camp. They arrive the day before the festival, listen to music all day the 2nd day, and depart on day 3. Either of these models are based on a 2 or 3 day weekend, requiring less planning and vacation time from patrons.
I think there are business opportunities waiting to be explored, none of which subtract from the success of Bonnaroo.

If they had a fall counterpart, I'd be all for it. I'm way too white for Bonnaroo. The sun/heat is painful for people of my disposition. S'kinda rough. Cooler weather would be awesome.

they have also mentioned having the state fair there. not sure if that article mentioned tha.
id like to see them have a large band like rolling stones. i think people would trek there to see them since they travel to atlanta etc to see bands like that. it could even be a camping deal.
i think they wont shoot themselves in the foot but id like to see them try something different
mannnn i want echo project to come back. mannn that was so cool. does anyone think that other festies may have paid them off not to do it?i mean people were pretty happy with that festival. it was smooth in my opinion
I do not think they would have another music festival like they have in June. I do not think you would have 75K people attend twice a year. From what I read here on this message board most people have a hard enough time affording going one a year.
Glad to see that they are putting money back in the infrastructure. A million dollars does not go that far.

I've always thought they should do something else awesome with the grounds at some point during th year, so this is great to hear. I'd prefer it be something I'd actually feel like attending (not gospel), but hey, I'm all for the continued success of Superfly.
belltwala1, I was talking to someone who gets hired on for various tasks at pretty much every major fest, and he mentioned that there are a couple of new Atlanta-area (or at least GA) fests at least in the early planning stages. I don't think Echo is coming back, but there could be something new and awesome in the near future.
I would love to make the drive in the summer and fall. It is always beautiful from where I live on through Asheville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, I would to go to both!
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good

As well as be a potential long term money maker, allowing Superfly more ability to finance infrastructure that would benefit Roo.
I know Gatlinburg, Tenn. has a huge Christian youth conference called Winterfest. Lots of potential in the Christian market to get something going like that. Something along the lines of Superwow but with camping...
Personally, I would prefer Vector Viking's Roograss idea.

the christian idea is good too. a lot of the christian music has moved from atlanta to nashville. we have a HUGE youth festival in downtown nashville. i wonder how that would be. youth migh enjoy camping unless it would be too rough.

I have brought up the idea before for Bonnaroots music festival that would have a line-up similar to the first couple roos or other jam festivals. It would be pretty badass if they set up another stage next to What and did it All Good style. They could have it be 2 or 3 days. Possible headliners could be... ABB, WSP, SCI, TAB, Furthur, or MMJ. They could even have two headliners each day like Wanee did this year with two nights of ABB and WSP

I don't think a back-to-roots jam festival is really feasible. Their goal for smaller events is to make profit that contributes to the main event in June, not compete with it and other jam festivals.
