Hi everyone! I am posting this to see when everyone go in line, how long was the wait, cops, heat, stalls, etc...
-----
We had a hotel room at the Best Western Smokehouse Lodge in Montverde, TN - it was FILLED with cops. We were up bright and early 3am (couldn't sleep) and witnessed the troopers leaving one at a time it was so scary. We raided the hotel's ice machine got some cigs at a local gas station and ventured onto WB I-24.
We only traveled a couple of miles before we saw a truck with a big sign that said "BONNAROO TRAFFIC USE SHOULDER NOW" and realized that the cars in line were for 'roo this was at almost 6am and we waited 7 HOURS - until the #112 exit.
There were so many people that cut in line it was ridiculous (both cars and rvs). Our friends behind us were cut off by 3 cars. We saw a lot of vehicles broken down I felt so bad for them! I was in my moms car I didn't know if hers would survive the idling - I know mine would of broken down. We saw A LOT of cops just riding up and down the lanes on motorcycles. One came up to me and said:
COP "You look scared" ME "I'm not just exhausted" COP *chuckles* "I hear that" ME *nervous chuckle*
he went away. Before we knew it we saw the EB side starting to back up it was insane I would of gone crazy waiting to turn around. There were a LOT of cars with "Bonnaroo or Bust" and a lot of them speeding! Obviously the police presence did not matter and they were probably not holding. Once we got in line we knew we were home free We did make friends with a car full of girls in from of us they were from The University of South Carolina a real chill group!
There was times we didn't move at all. The ppl walking past us would come and go. I saw a lot of them venture into the creepy woods to relieve themselves.
6am I-24 from mm 125 to mm112 = 13 miles in 7 hours
It felt like hell but I knew it would all be worth it! Next year we'll have an RV so it wont be so bad.
Drive from Florida, 8 hours Waiting in line on I-24, 8+hours 4 days at Roo, Priceless!
The cops were cool to me, I think around 9am or so the line started move people were cheering, cops on motorcycles were telling people to drive forward. As a cop drove by, on motor cycle, I stuck my hand out and said, "high five". He hit me back with a High Five and had a smile on his face!
awww see even some of the cops cant avoid the roo joy. anyone remember what the speed limit is on I 24? I 65? highways are 55 in ohio and ive got a baaaaaad habit of speeding so it'd be nice if speed limits are higher than 55. first time roo'er here!
Is there a particular direction that the 24 is worse? We are coming from the Nashville airport so we will be heading south I believe. Are there places to stop along the way between BNA and Manchester?
the cops drove up by me last year and said people were sleeping in their cars in line which is why the line didnt move a lot around that time....took me 8 hrs

i would have to say that bonnaroo is nothing compared to rothbury when your talking cops... yeah theres a few, nothing compared to state police in the campgrounds and venue at the last rothbury. for those of you thinking you got screwed, go to michigan... the state that moniters it all, i was cool till the gate attendant reached into my bra and a cop had to tell her she crossed a line. ive had no police troubles so i cant compare, what i can say is be smart. improve your karma. be kind, generous, and safe/smart.
