3 day festival, roughly 1000 people, 3 day pass with camping for $45 if you buy before July 15. Not gonna lie, I haven't heard of a lot of the musicians, but this seems like a really cool deal.
The next one is Sept 24-26 2010. I think this is the first year they are having one in the fall, usually its Memorial Day weekend. On mapquest its halfway between Nashville and Memphis in a little town called Crawford, Tennessee. I am very serious about checking this out. What do yall think?
Just found this: Our mission is the preservation of original singer-songwriters of Americana, Bluegrass, Roots, Folk and Blues. We record musicans on our 200-acre family farm on the Cumberland Plateau, and at the TN State Museum's Buffalo Bill Stage in Nashville.
sweet, thanks. I will prolly leave that one buried so we don't have 2 threads about the same thing on the front page. Its good to have it linked though.
Yes I did indeed attend the May HJ fest and has a blast. Very family friendly, tons of nice folks and lots of bluegrass music and cool derivatives of such. It's very isolated with no cell phone service and no potable water but the porto-potties were very clean and there is a stream for swimming/bathing along with water stations with spring water.
There's only a single stage but it's covered during the day for shade and then moved to a lighted stage at night. Definitely going back in Sept.
The thing I love best is the music circles going on all night where anyone can sit in and jam. The band members are usually there jamming with everyone too.
BTW, if you go to the site, there is a pic of me in my chicken mask on the survey section of the front page. My bonnarooster mask is now also the Hippie Chicken mask.
