I understand that many roo goers are not huge heavy metal fans, but I think Iron Maiden would put on an amazing show at roo. IF a big metal band is booked for 2011, I would love to see a 30ft Eddie walk the stage. Iron Maiden is one of the few 80s metal bands that isn't all washed up and they could certainly rock the farm. Headline or late night?
I think they would headline but I'd rather see them latenight. I could really seeing them playing til dawn. That would totally make it worth it. But you're right most rooers might not like them. -Fellow Trooper-
I would love to see them. They're big enough to headline, but not sure about their appeal with the typical Roo crowd. Maybe a late night (What or Which). Although if Metallica headlined, then I don't see why they wouldn't fit (although Metallica is more popular).
I'd love to see it. Them and Rush would both be interesting, yet great, choices.

Rush Headliner into a Iron Maiden latenight would be amazing and never happen. I would say there would be a better chance of Rush because their album comes out next spring and they will be touring like crazy, and Iron Maiden is in the US this summer. Its usually 2 to 3 years between tours in the US.
We can at least dream can't we.
Something like that would bring an interesting element to Roo since both bands have huge loyal fanbases that will travel to see them.
Edit: It is really odd that 2 of my favorite bands are the top discussions in TML and also two bands that i never expect to ever be at bonnaroo.

Yes, a bunch of times since 1999, and they are consistantly awesome.
(Though on the Matter of Life and Death tour in 2006, they insisted on playing the entire new album in order before doing anything else, which didn't go over so well. But it was still a good show, and I doubt they will try anything like that again)

2nd time for me (2005 on the Ozzfest on one of the days Black Sabbath didnt play because Ozzy was sick). They are amazing. Truthfully, I wouldnt have minded seeing the MOLAD played, I really liked that record.
i think between their vast musical talent, potential for an epic setlist, and great live stage show, Iron Maiden is as logical a fit as any metal band for Bonnaroo

It baffles me that all you guys like this, but whatever, I'm not going to insult you (anymore) for liking music that sounds like it should be blasting out of shitty vans with a mural on the side of a wizard shooting lightning.
I <3 Bruce, but Paul Di'Anno brought the heat. It's too bad he's probably pumping gas somewhere in England now. I think they would've turned out much edgier metal with Paul at the helm, but I'm definitely glad it turned out the way it did. Blaze's work is un-listenable to me, to be honest.
