Paul Di'anno, to me, is when Maiden was on more of a Punk-Metal type road. Love it, but a completely different band than the one I <3 so much.
And yes, the Blaze era is totally unlistenable, yet whenever Bruce sings one of those songs it kicks ass and it makes me realize that the unlistenable quality had nothing to do with the actual music.
And maybe Bruce wasn't always Iron Maiden, but as far as I am concerned, he ALWAYS is. He is a God among men.
And what other frontman in this universe is also a comercial pilot who flies the band's tour jet

Also, on his days off from the gas station, Paul also plays BB King's here fairly often under a "Sings the Music of Maiden" moniker. Someday soon I definitely plan to catch him there
I have basically the same feelings about the different singers you do. I almost consider them 2 different bands. I had no idea Paul was stateside, but it sounds pretty sad what he's doing... You would think Brucey would give him a guitarist, at least. ;D

^^ No he def lives in England, but he tours a lot I think, mostly small clubs.
I just tried to go to his website to see what he's up to, but it's broken. The poor guy just can't get a break. I mostly want to see him because I feel bad for him, I want to see the crowd he attracts, and also, now I want to report back here.
Wiki says this is what he's up to lately though, stupid lucky Australia and New Zealand
During 2010 Australia and New Zealand will be treated To a 30th Anniversary Tour celebrating Iron Maidens Debut Album performed in its Entirety.
And check out 2 of his recent band names
Paul Di'Anno & Children of the Damned (2002–present) Paul Di' Anno & The Phantoms of the Opera (2005–present)

^ I truly can't imagine, though I think it was him that was singing Hallowed Be Thy Name in a terrible nightmare I had once.
Zapp, do you have this? It's a double CD from the Eddie's Archives Box.
Besides a great excuse for me to post that kickass cover, I can send it too you if want. It's definitely hit and miss, but it's rare and any superfan should probably have it.
If for no other reason than you pretty much NEED to own Bruce's ridiculously kickass version of Cross-Eyed Mary
I don't have that! I have definitely heard that Cross-Eyed Mary, though. If you have time, I'd definitely be a gracious recipient of it. No worries if it's too much trouble, I could probably track it down elsewhere. Wish I could CoCo ya!
Edit: Have you ever heard any of Bruce's solo work? I haven't listened in ages, but I used to wear out "The Chemical Wedding". Great stuff right there. If you haven't heard it, I'd be glad to hook you up.

Yeah, I'll up it for you this weekend probably. In fact, maybe I'll even send you the whole set. It's 6 CD's, and the BBC Archives are outstanding. I totally couldn't afford it at all the day I bought it, but it's actually one of the coolest things I own.

I found Balls to Picasso for $1.00 at a used record store in Alabama about a year ago. It's different, but I like it alright. I actually only listened once I think, on the airplane back. I should try that again.
And I'd love to check out Chemical Wedding if you get a chance.
As far as CoCo's... I have too way too many and it got embarassing
Iron Maiden Rock in Rio was on VH1 Classic the other night... Now I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they come to Roo. If Tool and Metallica can headline, then Maiden can hold down a LN slot
