Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Please sign here maybe if enough of us speak up the powers that be will listen just reply to agree to change date to spring or fall when its not so DEADLY......my post at Beatcrave site in response to all the bust and death at roo 2010.
This was my 5th roo and possibly my last. Not just the oppressive heat but so many other bad things about it that I had never seen before. I saw a lot of undercover cops busting people in the campgrounds for pot. I had a RV and thank god I could just sit in it all day while the people sweltered in the heat. I made new friends, saw old ones and the event was fun I just am to sick to handle the heat again next year. I think the date should be changed, roo could do it in spring break or fall break so the college and school kids can still come, the weather would be good then. Austin music fest changed their dates to October, why the HEAT. It sends a message to me that Austin fest. producers actually care about the consumers and bands both. The fact that AC and superfly will not change the dates to a SAFER climatic time says to me all they care about is money. They would not even care if BB King or any other artist falls over dead performing in hot sticky dangerous temperatures. The difference in customer care at smaller festivals like waka, harvest, swagfest, ecofest in eldridge MO is like night and day. I know they are all in it to make money and to succeed they must make a profit. If they continue to treat their customer base like crap and shrug at heat strokes then they don't need my money. they are so cheap and thoughtless they won't spend 50 bucks to fill in that mud pit with gravel. I am referring to the dip and narrow walkway between centeroo and what stage. There are 70,000 people trying to pass through a narrow area that turns us into a herd of cattle off to slaughter. Here is another post made on the same topic at the same site I agree with all he said, it shows how many ways they could care less about thier clients.
onnaroo, please pay attention to all of these comments! 1) why do you not clean the port-o-lets? 2) why do you raise prices so much? 3) why do you allow cops to patrol the campground?!?! 4) why did you not include any of the southern bands that helped make Bonnaroo what it is?!?! 5) why do you not take care of little things that have needed to be fixed for the last 9 years like the pathway between the 2 main stages?! 6) why would you allow people to be turned away with their umbrellas, water and chairs when you were selling the exact same items? 7) why are there so few water stations? 8) why does it seem to everyone you care more and more about money and less and less about us?!
You not gonna make many friends at AC/Superfly this way. This is basically a bitch/bash fest of Bonnaroo. Do you really think they are gonna listen to you when all you are doing is bashing thier brand?

Come on man!

4) why did you not include any of the southern bands that helped make Bonnaroo what it is?!?!
I think R.E.M./Of Montreal/ Neutral Milk Hotel (although I guess they're not really touring) could have played as well this year but you can't win them all.
I am not out to make friends hopefully a safer festival. Change is often made by statements of facts in protest. I emailed superfly and AC shortly after roo with kind, respectfull request no response from either company. Actually I LOVE roo thats why I have gone 5 years, I just feel the producers fall short in customer satisfaction. I went to Mokan fest last week it was a mud bog but they were spreading round bales of hay everywhere around the stages and driveways I was impressed with their immediate action.
All I am saying is that if I owned/ran roo and I got a message telling me how cheap and thoughtless I was, I would tell you to go quack yourself...Thats all im saying...

If it is too hot for you either
a. go somewhere else b. grow a pair deal with it and drink lots of water.
Don't just start trashing something because you are just too hot. If they had it in April I guess you would be too cold. Maybe you just stick to indoor concerts.

1 They were still better than most at outdoor events
2 Get a job or stop whining, 300 bucks for 100 bands and four days of camping is reasonable
3 They weren't cops only 34 arrests were made and 24 citations on the grounds were written. They are people who think it is fun to "confiscate" items from youg impressionable kids.
4 Zac Brown, John Fogerty, John Prine, Dave Rawlings, sorry they didn't have panic but they pretty much suck anyway
5 Awww maybe they should pour you a concrete road in the middle of the field, of course that will just make it hotter.
6 If your chair was more than 12 inches it was not allowed, umbrellas are never allowed, and have never been allowed some people just get them in anyway
7 There is more free water at Bonnaroo than any other festival I have ever seen, buy a camelbak
8 So you thought they were throwing Bonnaroo out of the goodness of their hearts not too make money?
Let me close with this in short. Bonnaroo is not your b!tch, if you dont like it don't go, if you want something in the spring our autumn then find one. However your pretentious whining is just ridiculous. You have been 5 times, and just now you noticed it is hot?

janma2, just a small point. Part of your beef was with the busts. Why would you expect them to respect your wishes when you are clearly not repsecting theirs? They clearly state no illegal substances in the rules. SO if you bring them or have them and get caught.....your bad.
The list of 8 things that are written was copied by me I did not write them but agree he makes good points. Please take the time to read the post about the article here. beatcrave.com/2010-06-14/bonnaroo-2010-leads-to-one-death-over-100-arrests/ I know its hot this year was record breaking heat for Manchester, I stay cool using portable misting fans, umbrella, and water is all I drink. I am just trying to get them to do what Austin music fest did make it when the weather is bearable. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic zeros said "it's too hot to do anything here" I actually felt sorry for the bands working in that heat more than myself. I am just trying to help the people who attend roo but thats ok flame all you want I can take it. We must present our grievances to the management when kindness and lack of change has no results. I have been attending concerts since 1974 and seen over 1200 bands both indoors and out. The 9 years of Texas Jam in the cottonbowl was around 110 degrees and they watered us down with fire hoses in 1980-89. Stand up and YOU grow some balls people try to make a change instead of licking the boots of the men who laugh at you all the way to the bank.

So you have been doing this since '74 and just now realized it is hot at Bonnaroo? Go peddle your papers elsewhere I am sure the majority of attendees are happy to have it as our start to the summer. As to licking boots people might say a lot of things about me but obeying authority is not one that comes up much. My point is that you apparently joined this board to try and tell us and Bonnaroo how wrong we are. As far as I am concerned it is run well and at a good time of the year. They are not going to have it while school is in session, and you are ignorant if you think there is 1 Spring Break period that would fit most peoples schedules. It really is easy find you a festival you like better and then go there. We have several 50+ year old women on this board who manage it every year with a lot less bitching than you.
Maybe someone should tell Burning Man that it's too hot when they are scheduled - oh yeah - and it's in the desertt - they should definitely move that - because it's just not a good thing - too hot - too dry - too much wind - too much sand blowing.
^^see - sounds pretty stupid, huh?
kinda like asking for Bonnaroo to move - I agree with Jess - no way could they move it to Spring Break - not everyone has Spring Break at the same time......
I like the start of my summer just the way it is...Bonnaroo - hot, sweaty and on the farm

Actually it was hot as Balls at AllGood and someone fell over the ravine and hurt themselves. They should move it to an indoor civic center instead of putting it up on top of a beautiful mountain. You know what screw it you have me convinced I am never going to go to a Summer outdoor festival again.

Bonnaroo has always been hot, this year just hotter than most. I do know some people who do not go to Roo because of the heat. I know some who only go in an RV. The way you presented your point was not only detrimental to you making your point, you also came off as a whining, pandering twit (which you very well may not be.)
Two major festivals were lost this year; lets not make it 3.

We were so disgusted by the management of Bonnaroo this year that we didn't begin planning Roo 2011 until well past the TN/KY border, when my co-pilots finally woke up!
If they have it April you'll gripe about the rain and mud, if they move it to Oct you'll complain that they let the leaves blow around the farm. Nut up and deal!!
Bonnaroo 2008-2013
0ct 11 Pearl Jam
Oct 12 Pearl Jam
March 16 Arcade Fire
April 29 Arcade Fire
Sept 4 Wilco
Sept 9 The Hold Steady
Oct 16 Pearl Jam
Oct 17 Gaslight Anthem

Maybe you should start attending the Happy Funtime Magic Unicorn Rainbow Love Festival they have every year on a secret island where it is exactly 72 degrees day and night, and they give you free drugs and water from a personal valet.

Jess, can you pick me up a ticket to this?
All you have to do is write admit 1 on a piece of paper with a pink crayola.

Damn, you beat me to it.
And while we are at it, I've always wanted to go camping in Death Valley, heard it was beautiful, but unless those money grubbing fools move it to somplace with a more even climate, (maybe someplace outside Seattle?) ...until then, that place will not get a single penny from me.
In conclusion, I like my Bonnaroo exactly where and when it is, thanks.
