that's a good point, higgi
i think in future rounds we have to decide to either replace every player who abandons the game, or not replace anyone. either way, without an odd number of players the game can't continue normally regardless of who it hurts numbers-wise.

I don't think we should make the rule say we must replace someone, because the game could stall out indefinitely if we can't find someone to jump in mid-game.
We were talking about revising the 36-hour rule anyway, so while we're at it maybe we should change the whole thing. Instead of kicking off the missing person AND having someone voted off, why not just kick the missing person, and then move on to the next round? I haven't thought it through at all, so there may be a good reason not to do this, but it seems better than the possibility of ending with a tie.

well, i think the biggest gray area is that it ends up being totally situational. although, it might just be unavoidable that it ends up being really unfair to one side or the other.
ok, so the round where we were voting off bek was when we started considering options for indi. by the time it was an issue, we'd gone pages and pages in that round, and thinking what i did at the time, it would have been totally unfair to the townies to have to disregard an entire round's worth of discussion, and give the mafia a free whack, knowing they can re-group and re-strategize while the townies are still in the dark.

Maybe we should make a real mafia-style rule then, to keep people from flaking on the game. Like if you miss two votes, we show up at your house and kneecap you.

well sean, i can't guarantee anything but the fact that you're going to be surrounded by at least two of the hottest chicks in the immediate area. and if you're up for a foursome, i can always talk to my guy. no crossing swords, though
i agree with NTRT. i think instead of kicking and voting off in the same round if we have an AWOL person, perhaps we should count that person as the voted off person and then the mafia gets their kill that night.
it would def be an advantage to one side or the other, but hopefully people won't sign up and not play very much.
