I went GA in 2009 (the only year i've been) and I think if I decided to go back I would probably go VIP should I have the money. The heat was way too overwhelming for me. I did nothing during the day but chill at camp and stay in the shade so I missed most of the daytime music. I'm from Illinois where it's hot in the summer time, but there it felt like 150 degrees plus a blanket over your face, the humidity really did me in. I hope I don't sound like a whiny camper because I'm usually not, but I definitely need some aspect of comfort or I do not do very well at festivals.
if you look i'm sure you'd see that nothing's really as it seems and soon enough you'd realize you promise more than you'll provide the substance that we're hoping for will always leave us needing more we're calloused til we cannot feel the only moments that were real

While I can't promise anything it was our third year and the heat was freakish! I'm not great with the heat but I've been able to camp and enjoy, this year was like a musical version of hell
Hmm.. I have a question about RV/VIP.. So one can camp RV without being in VIP? Just as one can camp VIP with a tent rather than an RV? Right? I wonder what the price difference is for each scenario. This year, the heat & walk from Pod 1 was pretty rough to say the least!

Yes, Yes, not sure of the price difference.
having done both, i would say VIP-RV is overkill. normal VIP + use of the AC tents and bathrooms are sufficient. I suppose if it rained like a mofo, then it would be cool to have an RV to go back to, but i havent had that issue...
I have done VIP, to me doing TO, and esp camp inforoo is the way to go. Much cheaper, and I usually just pulled out a mattress and slept on the ground.

This is year #4 for me and was considering an RV for 2011. This year was really hot and i did not get a lot of sleep cause of it which also meant that i would miss time in center roo because of trying to get sleep before the sun got to hot. I will not upgrade the tix though cause i like to roam tent city any way. It's all part of the glory of Bonnaroo. RV or not i will be there and plan on once again getting tix during presale (if they do it again) as i have a feeling after seeing the crowds this year and the fact that 2011 is the 10 Year Anniv, i think it will be another amazing line up and will sell out.
I really want air conditioning for the night time, but i just don't know the best way to get it. Its probably just gonna be me again next year, so its gonna be expensive. Heres what ive thought about.
RV Rental: 650 - 750, more after gas if factored in + GA Ticket Pros: AC, flushing toilet, maybe one or two showers if really needed, a semi comfortable bed Cons: Security deposit (ive heard its over $1000), getting it there and back
VIP: $700 for a ticket Pros: AC in pavilion, close to centeroo (big plus, I was in fucking grizwald this year), no wait to get in (so ive heard), free showers. Cons: Still stuck with a hot tent at night
Hotel: $750 for hotel rsvp, GA ticket Pros: AC, clean bed, daily shower, flushing toliet, free breakfast Cons: Driving there and back every day, waiting in line every day, the walk from day parking.
Did anyone do the hotel travel package that ac entertainment sold this year. Was it worth it? Were the shuttles 24 hour shuttles? or did they have specific times for pickup / drop off? Where was pickup / dropoff? Im assuming the hotel was for thurs / fri / sat / sun?

if you have a large group rv's are the way to go. we took two back in '09 we put 6 to 7 people in each rv and i think the whole breakdown was 400-500 per person and that included an entire refridgerator full of food, 4 bottles of liquor (we put in 2 liters of course) and enough beer where everyone took a case home. i did not take a shower however the option was nice (the 7 dollar shower was money) it was not too much maintenance. there was a deposit but if you're upgrading it gets more expensive dont drive under the influence and pay ateention you'll get your deposit back. and we all had grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches at 3 am on sat after BRUCE!!!! phish fall tour the msg!

There may be a HUGE deal with me and Bonnaroo coming up so this might even be better than VIP and such. Details coming soon if everything pans out!
I'm on the edge of my seat. I've been struggling to figure out how we could get you more attention this year. I'm so glad it's all coming together for you.

We do the RV/VIP every year..... It's such a nice way to go. I would never rent from Cruise America. They were awful!! We rent from a local dealer, who treat us like family because we take care of the RV. It's easy to pack, rides well, and has AC at night! The AC'd showers and bathrooms in VIP are worth the price alone, let alone the easy in and out access. We made friends with the people that parked next to us in 08, and now meet them every year in the WM parking lot on Wednesday night...

We are planning to upgrade to VIP next year. We did RV/GA last year and our ac had a hard time in the heat of the day. It also sucked paying someone to fill your water tank and we NEVER had anyone drain our black water. We also go with a group from the PAC NW so heat is a real issue. Can anyone tell me how much the VIP tix were? What about the the RV passes for VIP? We need to start saving now.

The RV pass for VIP is an additional $150.... ticket was $700, and our RV, with extra miles and generator time is about $1,900 + $450 for gas...... If you rent an RV, make sure you verify the number of genny hours and price per additional hour. We don't run the AC during the day to save hours, and it cools down the RV super quickly at night. Remember that the generator runs off the gas tank, and shuts down when you get to a quarter tank. A good generator doesn't burn that much fuel.

I really want to go vip this year. I'm flying solo though. Need to find someone willing to buy the other ticket sans parking pass. I'll be needin' dat.
Seeing as how next year is Bonnaroo's 10th anniversary and will be my 5th time on the farm, I find it appropriate to finally upgrade and attend by going VIP. While those reasons will certainly make the affair more sentimental, those aren't the only factors contributing to that decision.
First, it would just be nice to experience the routine of 'roo a little differently. Also, in case the weather decides to be brutal again it would be nice to have more comfortable conditions in order to endure the elements. But the main reason I will devote my monetary funds to whatever VIP has to offer is to skip the line to enter the festival off of I-24.
For 2010 we arrived before the sun rose, figuring we'd make it in earlier than ever before. We actually ended up waiting the longest out of every year we attended. After waiting for 7 hours behind the wheel in line with no end in sight, and in addition to having been on the road straight from Orlando, I finally suffered a conniption fit. I said fuck it, got out of line, and found another way in.
I don't ever want to suffer the injustice of arriving earlier than most, only to be delayed indefinitely because other motorists happened to arrive later and simply queued up further along in line.
I know this is completely out of anybody's control. The cops, the attendees, and the organizers do everything they can each year to make it work. But short of adding half a dozen more entrances, what else can they do?
My solution is easy. I will simply pay more for the experience that I want. And unless I'm somehow able to roll into Bonnaroo with Total Access, I'll be doing it VIP.
My little group and I have gone VIP the last 3 years and I could not downgrade to GA if I wanted to now however for 2011 it looks like I may be upgrading to Total Access if we can get a TA Inforoo group going.

If i go i will definitely stick with GA. Im a man of the people! (im poor)
If i could survive last year, im pretty sure i can deal with anything. between not sleeping after i woke up friday morning until my body simply gave out on me sometime sunday afternoon and the unbearable heat the whole weekend, i think i can deal with whatever gets thrown at me. Perhaps ill sleep two nights and it wont be so hot.
VIP: $700 for a ticket Pros: AC in pavilion, close to centeroo (big plus, I was in quacking grizwald this year), no wait to get in (so ive heard), free showers. Cons: Still stuck with a hot tent at night
VIP has 3 AC tents total that you can access with VIP wristband... my group would lay down a towel in a corner and sleep every A.M. in the A/C... you can do the same for the night, probably. There are always people asleep, couches/big beanbags/hammocks are there for your relaxation and it's unevitable to fall asleep.

Ya ya ya, you've never gone GA... but i guess this is beside the point since the topic is upgrading!
