I have gone 5 times with a badge, 4 back when I was in college. I say just keep tabs who is playing where at what show cases and try to get on some mailing lists if you know if a band is playing or will be playing around the area. There will be private shows that may not be officially be listed( I remember seeing a private show of Grant Lee Phillips/Robyn Hitchcock, O.A.R., and a couple guys from J5). Since your focus in the city is for MMJ, you won't have a need for a badge (they are expensive).
Day parties are usually invites or badges. I would even say keep your eyes peeled for a small MMJ show( or maybe Carl) during the day since they will be in town all week.

Maybe. I'll have plenty of Jacket on my plate that week, so I really just want to see if I can catch a couple of bands I might not get the opportunity to see back home. Nothing on the initial list is really jumping out at me, but I'm hopeful there will be some interesting adds.
