gotta admit that pic looks epic.
I wouldn't mind them in a day slot. I don't see them as being one of the bands whose music lends itself especially well to a night set, like bisco or anything like that
I might be able to picture them as a What pre-pre-headliner on Friday. They have a lot of that same bluesy-punk sound as The Raconteurs, who filled that same spot in 2008. But I don't think they're quite big enough just yet, maybe in a couple years' time.
I'd argue that The Black Keys now are bigger than the Raconteurs ever were.....and i'm a Raconteurs fan for life. Yes, it's a Jack White band but the Raconteurs never got as big or popular as The Black Keys are right now. The Keys are all OVER the place and have been having huge shows. I think they could EASILY fill that slot.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

I don't think the Keys need a late night at all. Their music is blues-rock and they don't particularly rely on a light show. It was awesome that they did get a LN, but their music would play just as well in the middle of a hot day
Idk bro. Keys have never had a song as well-known as "Steady as She Goes".
Are you being serious or sarcastic?
One hit song doesn't change the fact that the Black Keys have been showing up everywhere mainstream, thus increasing their "bigness". Late Night talk shows, commercials, movies, festivals, big headlining tours. Their current album is their best selling so far and they've got a big record label behind them now.
I really feel like The Black Keys are bigger than the Raconteurs right now. Maybe i'm wrong. But I know a lot more people who have heard of/listened to/liked The Black Keys this past year than even know who the Raconteurs are/were.

it means that The Black Keys in that a wider audience of people listen to and enjoy their music, but that The Raconteurs would still draw a bigger crowd and warrant higher placing based upon the membership of Jack White.
The Black Keys played the main stage of Wakarusa (yes, i know its a smaller festival) in the middle of the day and killed it. One of the best preformances of the fest. I think they could bring a huge crowd at What early friday (before the White Stripes hopefully).

who cares. not that they aren't good, they just aren't all that exciting. seeing them once in my lifetime is enough for me. plus they tour all the time.. go see them in your hometown and let someone new fill a bonnaroo spot.

Racs have had success with records, played festivals with more high profile spots, headlined tours as well.
Don't get me wrong, I've been listening to the keys since thickfreakness and thought their show was my favorite of this years roo, but I don't think you can assume that they are bigger when the Racs aren't even currently around.
If Jack White's next album was with the Raconteurs and both play Roo next year, I would wager that they would get the higher billing.

black keys arent exciting? sorry what do you consider exciting then, because the keys are about as good as your gonna get in the current rock scene.
seen them 5 times, and every show has been amazing. they are great artists who let their music make the show, not some fancy light set up.
to each their own. i dont think they are an exciting band but i also dont think exciting=light show. i have seen them once and enjoyed it and expect that if i were to see them again that it would be pretty much the same deal. But, at Bonnaroo, i would rather see something i have not seen before and absolutely hate it then see the same "good but not my favorite" band twice.

I just got tickets for the December 4th show at HOB in Orlando. Yes I'm bragging, it feels good. They are the only band that played that I think about missing at least weekly. Maybe the week of December 5th will be different.

I'm so dissapointed they booked their show in Orlando the week I'm, going to be up in Buffalo
I just can't get enough of them. I almost considered seeing them in Palm Beach opening for KOL, but it didn't seem worth $50+ to see them do a 45 min opening set for a band that is far below them. I definitely would have made the drive to see them one last time on this tour for the orlando show though. But I can't complain too much... I caught them down here last spring and I caught about an hour of their set at Bonnaroo. I'll have to settle for that. Hopefully it won't be long before they have another CD and another tour.
