I just wanted to share some thoughts about the show. It was totally not my style of music (the whole southern rock thing), but holy shit those guys can jam. The older dude, lead guitarist, was amazing. Pretty epic show. And I had a blast.
That said, I still find it surprising these guys headlined bonnaroo. Not for lack of talent, but lack of popularity. I guess it's a regional thing. They played the the Fillmore here. It's a medium sized venue, not quite and ampitheatre but a step up from a house of blues sized venue. There wasn't a huge turnout. They actually closed off like 30-40% of the venue to make it looked more full. They only left the floor open, about 15 rows on the bottom level and about 10 on the balcony. Something like this
And considering that MGMT and Vampire weekend just sold out shows at this venue.. frankly I dont see WSP being any bigger than them
See that's crazy cuz panic has the record for most consecutive shows sold out at Phillips arena which holds a good 20000 people. But then again they're from Georgia...
