it's kinda sad that it took watching reruns of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to get me into The Roots, but now because of them I watch pretty much every episode... please bring them to the farm AC!!!
I was in New York in July and I got tickets to a taping of 'Late Night.' It was so cool. The Roots came out early and played a few of their own songs before they started taping. Kirk and Owen were running through the crowd and everything. Then, when they started taping the show, they would play in between commercial breaks. They were tight.

id love to see some representation from the illest part of the western hemisphere. the roots or the roots+john legend would be awesome either way. i still have yet to heat the roots plus john legend album "Wake Up", but the roots new album "How I Got Over" is great top to bottom

Illadelph Halflife is definitely the root of the darker sound, and concentration on all the small background elements and electronic sound admist all the acoustic beauty.
Then fly backwards to 'Do You Want More?!!?!" for the literal root of The Roots sound and the source of all dat soul
and really that's just the beginning. "Things Fall Apart" is one of the best records in history and has so many J Dilla tracks...
"Phrenelogy"/"The Tipping Point" are absolute turning point for getting all that band involved in the creative process and learning how to appeal to the masses without seeming fake. "Game Theory"/"Rising Down" tears straight to the heart of the politics we face.
"How I Got Over" baby, is just the ice on the cake

I dream of The Roots w. Special Guests including John Legend
me too. If you see my wishlist in my sig I put them closing which on Sunday doing some sort of superjam. I just kept getting that ad popup of The Roots with Q-Tip on Consequence of Sound and I thought that The Roots would be perfect to do a set mostly of their own stuff and have Q-Tip, John Legend, Yim Yames, etc. come out for a song or two each.

After reviewing your sig, I might kill for that line-up... ...or at least commit a misdemeanor crime for it
Huge Roots fan seen them probably close to 50 times now I would say Things Fall Apart is their premier album but if you get their "Homegrown" this is like a best of the Roots and you can't go wrong with that. LOVED the last album it is right up there among their best. I thought they may have lost it after Rising Down which I didn't like that much but they really did something special with How I Got Over
I've been saying since 2003 that what Bonnaroo needs to do is give the Roots a 4-hour late night slot, and basically let them do whatever the f*ck they want. Special guests, extra musicians, whatever. They used to do this with the Black Lily shows, and they've done sessions at Radio City Music Hall where they brought out everyone imaginable: Nas, Ghostface, Jay-Z, etc. Let them do it again, only at Bonnaroo. Give ?uesto a four hour slot and tell him to do whatever it is he wants.
