die antwoord exists as a parody of itself, their own culture, and america's culture. Gaga said she admired them and asked them to open for her and they told her to fuck off. Hell, they made her get eaten by a lion in "i fink you freaky". They also had like a 4 headed dragon of nikki minaj, drake, kanye, and kim kardashian basically hating on "pop". They hate lady gaga because they see her as a try hard. Lady Gaga basically goes "look how weird and different i am! Im so exotic! I wear meat dresses and stuff! im a monster! im so strange and inexplicable!" and Yolandi basically comes back with "bitch you are manufactured fake bullshit pop and it's all an act to make money. Your eccentricity is just a marketing tool, we are real, and we refuse to sell out. Fuck you"

What makes you think I haven't listened to them? I'll go one further...what makes you think I've never paid money to see them perform live?
I don't have uninformed opinions, because it's something that literally makes me shake with rage when other people do it. I listened to dozens, if not hundreds, of Lil B songs. I've listened to most of DA's catalog. I've seen them live. I think they suck. It's not because I "don't get it" (do yo notice how this is the go-to catch phrase when people don't like shitty shock music acts?), it's because I don't think it's good quality.
I'm pointing out the hypocrisy in people like you that dismiss artists like Gaga (who is a world-class musician and international superstar) so you can pump up someone who makes trashy music, but does so in a crazy manner, so you think it's special.
"Getting them" has nothing to do with it, you'd be better served if you didn't act like anyone who dislikes a band or act you enjoy does so simply because they have the wool pulled down over their eyes.

Gaga is fantastic. I think she's extremely talented. I just think she could do without the cringy weird shit she does to try and seem even weirder, because with her it seems so forced.

Lionel isn't an act I actively listen to, but his footprint in music can't really be ignored. Not my particular favorite artist from that era/genre, but the dude has a ton of hits and if you go to his set you will know more songs than you don't, even if you don't know the name to any of them.
Top 5 artists right now is actually impossible to answer. Kanye's up there, but I listen to such a variety I would feel I'm insulting certain acts by not including them.

I just love that you have such a blatant hard-on for the guy. As for as my feelings toward him, I can never fully dislike a fat guy with a beard.
Because he's a fantastic lyricist, which is my #1 criteria for a good rap artist.
I hope he delves into some darker, more internal subject matter soon, since he can only rap about chasing skirts and smoking weed so many times before it gets redundant.
