I can't really listen to them too much at home but I will be at this show because it's going to be one of the best parties of the weekend. A mid day this tent spot would be glorious.

Go to 2:30. The murial is a & headed 7 headed hip hop beast crapping out the Black Eyed Peas. (Kayne is one head of 7). That murial bout sums it up for me, wish it was in my house!
Spent thirty minutes last night watching their videos... and have been singing "I Fink You're Freeky" all morning. Such weird stuff. I feel like I have to go see them just to see this weirdness in person.

They played at Marathon not too long ago. Insane show.

This is the one show I'd wait around all day for just to make sure I was in the front. The closest they came to me was in ATL like a year and half ago? The show sold out in like, minutes.

A friend of mine showed me the song Enter the Ninja a few years ago and I thought it was wonderful lol. I never even realized they had as many songs as they do. I'll go by and check them out as long as there aren't any conflicts. Can't say id miss anyone I like over them tho.

A friend of mine and me had a good laugh when we first saw one of their music videos a couple months ago. We had an even bigger laugh when we saw them on the lineup.
wait, these guys are for real? i saw this video a while back and thought it was obviously satire, and actually thought it was pretty funny.
if they actually are a real group, and this actually is a real thread, then i dont even know what to say. theres no way anybody can actually like this
They are satire. They are satire of American pop culture, "White trash" culture, and are also a parody of what American's think South African culture is like. In the video for "fatty boom boom" (demonstrates the view Americans have of S.A. culture) They have a cockroach crawl out of lady gaga's pussy and the 7 headed beast from the book of Revelations, with Pitbull, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Drake, and Akon as the head and the beast is shitting out the Black Eyed Peas. They don't care. They are a parody of themselves too. But basically they're weird as fuck and they hate that people like Lady Gaga have this schtick just to make money and be popular, whereas they've been doing this for over a decade. "fatty boom boom" was their response to Lady Gaga asking them to open for her. "suddenly you only interested cause we blowin' up overseas". Die Antwoord is in it for the originality and the art aspect to it, not to sell out. Yolandi said "that would seriously fuck up our cool". Their work is inspired by (and in some cases, directed by) an artist named Roger Ballen, who is a gifted photographer. He's listed in the credits, and Ninja is brilliant to build upon his influence. There will be an exhibition of his work (including a Die Antwoord theater style video projection) at the National Museum of African Art in DC this June. They are using a lot of culture from South Africa that frankly foreigners like us will not get. Look up Dutch and South African influences and you might start to get some of the references they make in this video. On reddit, whenever something of theirs is released, the South African hip hop fans love it.
here's a more serious poem thing by Max Normal (look up the lyrics to "love is"):

You should check out their short film. It's on youtube.
Not a 100% sure that link will work...but it's titled Umshini Wam. It's like 15 minutes.
The first song of theirs I listened to I turned in off in 30 seconds, it was just to weird for me. But, now I can't get Enter the Ninja out of my head. I am going to be at this one barring any major conflicts.

I will be at this show. I love EDM but greatly dislike rap. Though after watching their videos they seem like it will be a very fun show. I told all my friends to watch their videos as if they just listened to the music I know they wouldn't like it. You definitely need to watch either video of them or see them live to appreciate it at all.

This actually made me mad for second, not gonna lie.

I saw them in a small sold out club in Ft lauderdale. It was one of the most diverse crowds I'd seen- filled with hippies, hipsters, ghetto hip hop types, juggalos, indie kids, punk kids, goth kids, etc etc etc The crowd went nuckin futs all throughout the show. There were multiple "NINJA NINJA" chants- and the awesome thing was just watching ninja soak it in. This guy has wanted this kind of love, respect, and appreciation for his music his entire life, and I've never seen someone look so completely grateful for every drop of energy in that chant. It was an amazing show
