I am so torn on this one...I saw RATM at Woodstock 99 and they were AWESOME but i also so dig Soundgarden...one of the few times RATM loses...went with Soundgarden....

I'm pretty sure chris cornell is tone deaf. Got audioslave: live in cuba as a birthday present, and he sounded completely terrible for that entire concert.
Well, it was an Audioslave concert... at the Lolla set, he sounded good from what I've heard. Outside of Temple Of The Dog and SG, everything Cornell touches turns to Leno. Working with Timbaland doesn't help.

Would love to see either one, but I would have to go with Rage since they seem to play festivals every few years in the states along with select dates worldwide and I expect Soundgarden to go on a big us tour next year.
maybe he was just sick for that show. His voice was horribly washed out, and he lost about 20 cool points for trying to cover rage, and failing miserably. I picked rage, because while I have kinda out grown their sound, I will always be amazed at the amount of energy they had live. The dvd of The Battle for Mexico City was intense.
That said, if chris cornell can perform in concert the way he did on albums in the 90's, I would be all over it.

Timbaland? For fucking real? Maybe I just don't watch enough television anymore, but I didn't know that shit. (I won't lie, the guy has produced some great songs with Justin and Nelly Furtado) I voted for SG because I already saw Rage/WuTang in Charlotte many years back. I don't know. I guess I'd still vote SG. Those guys have done far too many songs that I love to not see them live.
Though I'm no fan of de la Rocha's bullshit political posturing (dude, the machine puts out your music), I do dig some RATM. Never could get into Soundgarden
Voted Rage. Seen them both twice in their prime (Rage '96 and '02/ Soundgarden '92 and '96) and wasn't very impressed with either of Soundgarden's shows. Maybe it's because I've only seen them against tough competition at the '92 and '96 Lolla tours, but honestly Rage played the '96 Lolla tour with them and absolutely killed. If Soundgarden came I would see it, but I would much rather see Rage at Roo (especially a late night ala NIN).

No way you coulda seen Rage in 2002. They were disbanded 2000 - 2007. Seen them in '97 (Wu Tang tour at Deer Creek), '99 (Greedstock) and '08 (Lolla). They still are in their prime, IMO. One of my faves and I personally would love them on the farm. However, I realize the sort of chaos and aggression their sets generate (crashed gates at the latter two shows) could make it a liability of epic proportions.

I burned out on Chris Cornell's voice and his many imitators a long time ago. Rage at Lollapalooza '08 was one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life.
