If you go, go see Dirtfoot. They helped me propose to my wife at the chompdown at waka in 08. Also go to the chompdown, it's a group breakfast that we board members from the waka board put together every year. It's free of charge and Dirtfoot plays....just bring something to share with everyone.

I really want to go. It'd be an easy and fun road trip, the line-up is awesome, and everything I hear about the atmosphere and the 24/7 music and setting (I loved that area in Arkansas when I went through there. And I love that they have the lake/river and onsite fishing.
Only problem is I already got tickets to go to free press summer fest in Houston the same weekend. I went to that last year and had a ton of fun. Have no clue whose playing but I'm expecting at least a decent line-up, and it was INCREDIBLY cheap and a short drive for me.
God I wish this was the weekend after Bonnaroo instead of the weekend before
Mark me as another person making the jump from Bonnaroo to Waka this year. Shpongle and Ghostland were the deal makers for me. Plus everything I have read makes the venue and the people sound great.
This thread is more active then the entire wakarusa forum.

That sounds awesome! I've been poking around over there looking for info Thanks for the heads up!
So what beer vendors are there? Will there be any quality brews available or is it moreso the "cold beer" standards?

they used to feature New Belgium brews, but last year they had Boulevard - most of their brews are really damn good - and they are sponsering the waka winter classic contests so it looks like thats they will have again this year...

Amen! A friend and I were talking about how much we would miss the Broo'ers fest this year, but with New Belgium or Boulevard it will definitely soften the blow.
Btw, I recognize your username from the Waka forum, welcome to the board

i gotcha. it's a lot different...roo was my annual summer festi before waka moved into my backyard and i was floored at the difference between the two. waka is so much more laid back and the setting is sweet. you should have a ball..
Naw, they sucked at Waka last year and they have two sets. I feel like they wanted to prove people wrong that hadn't seen them before. And it says he has treatment and needs a few months of recovery. February treatment March-May recover.

He has surgery, two months of recovery, and then treatment. If it is chemo then there is a likelihood he'll be out of commission from that for a while as well, especially depending on what type it is/how long he has to take it. I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Much love and positive thoughts to David and his family. <3
Glad to see that Buckethead will be back in the Revival Tent again. (Assuming that's where he'll be, most likely late at night when he can fuck with as many heads as possible.) He needs a damn band this time though.
