It had: Dead Milkmen, !!!, Surfer Blood, Odd future, Big freedia and a few other bands. It's where NOFX played in 2008, although it's not in waterloo park anymore. always a good draw for Saturday and totally free.
Edit:
The RSVP now is open. No free beer since this all ages, but it is sold there.

I haven't received one. Fader also added whiz Khalifa and Odd Future to the line-up today. Hopefully on the same day.
I plan on one of my SXSW days to be spent there. Matt and Kim are playing Friday night. I am hoping Outkast is Saturday. The fact that it ends around 9 leaves time to make it to some later shows also.

since the line-up is now over 2000 bands, I will post some of the good bands playing SXSW.
Foo Fighters TV on The Radio Widespread Panic Kanye West The Kills Wu-Tang Big Boi (possibly Outkast) !!! Dead Milkmen Surfer blood Trentemoller Moby Screeching Weasel Wiz Khalifa Odd Future Matt and Kim James Blake DJ Jazzy Jeff Heiroglyphics Sasha The Klaxons The Strokes Flogging Molly MSTRKRFT Benny Benassi Toro Y Moi Carl Broemel with special guest Erykah Badu Bright Eyes Big Freedia Jamie XX Lil B The Bass God Snoop dogg Sleigh Bells Duran duran Yoko Ono Dredg Talib Kweli Okerville River G Love Devotchka Portugal The Man Asobi Seksu Murs EPMD Spank rock Datarock Boys Noize smith Westerns Yuck Kaskade Richie Hawtin Deer Tick Los Lonely Boys Too short and around 1900 other bands.
SXSW doesn't get enough love on these boards, they have the best line-up overall and a kind of make your own experience. Austin is fun as hell also.
One day I'd love to do SXSW. Pretty sure A Shoreline Dream is playin' this year (again, they've done it once or twice now). Someday I'll be able to afford it. Someday. Maybe.
Do most people stay all the way through the parties/showcases with multiple bands? I'm just curious if you have a chance of getting in if you come at a halfway point or something.
I just randomly planned this, I'm badgeless and it's my first year...should be an adventure!

if anyone gets the chance, check out a band called Jasper. they're a rock band local to Austin, and should be playing plenty of free shows this week. their facebook is www.facebook.com/pages/Jasper/120452834667220?sk=info

Certain parties like Fader Fort are best to get there early and wait out it out, that's my plan for Friday at the moment. It's pretty much full of spontaneous decision making, but there is always something to do or see.
I don't have many solid plans yet, but am gonna try and catch Trentemoller at La Zona rosa to close out Saturday night. Possibly The Strokes also. Scoot Inn for the multi-day Thrasher party and Pure Volume House for Moby wednesday if it's not too late to get my badge when I arrive.
RSVP to the links posted if you can, some will close soon.
Edit: Bon Iver and Megafaun were just added to Fader fort.

Jack white just did a 2 song acoustic set by the Third Man Records truck downtown. Not much of a set, but the people who went loved it. I am hoping to get down to austin by 5 or so today. also, if interested text vevo to 67463 for Kanye RSVP at the power plant which will be crowded.
Probably no more checking in here for a while. I will be on twitter all week. rideincircles

Trentemoller was the best show of sxsw. Blew everything else away and was the best electronic act I've ever seen. Most people there went to see sh it robot and had no clue. My ears still hurt.
sxsw was tons of fun this year, blah blah, screeching reasel kicked ass until Ben Weasel hit a girl in the face, matt and kim and odd future at fader were both a sweaty mess of fun, blah blah, peter murphy acoustic set and played hurt, asobi seksu, moby bbq dj set rocked, Trying to recollect what all happened now.

I didn't want to bother with the line for Kanye or Perez, although i still haven't been to a show there. What was the line like?
Trentemoller was by far the highlight of the festival followed by Matt and Kim and Screeching weasel. Saw tons of stuff and spent about $120 in 4 days on food and booze ($80 also on 3rd man record truck).
Here is a couple videos.
Trentemoller, by far the best electronic act of sxsw. Definitely one of the biggest underrated acts of the festival.

Here is the pic I got of ben hitting the second girl. You can see his fist and a hand trying to block it while the girl ducks. I was too far back to see the first person.

I still am not totally finished, but most of my sxsw photos are online except for Saturday. See album link in my signature, I am still on the verge of getting a DSLR and I traded off image quality for video quality with my Canon SX1. All my videos are online also, may post some photos here later.

You have 3 options, A badge is about $700 and gets you in almost all of the exclusive events. This is what music industry people do.
A wristband was $165 and sold to Austin residents only at first, then sold online in limited quantities. It gives you priority access over cash lines at parties.
The other option is just go and hit up all the free day parties and pay for showcases. I go this route every year, but have missed a few shows because of it. With 2000 bands playing, there is always a backup plan though.
This year i spent less than $300 for the whole trip including gas and food from Wednesday - sunday in Austin staying at a friends place. I drank for free somewhere everyday, and actually spent only $120 from Wednesday-Saturday when I was downtown on food drinks and shows. I spent $80 at third man records which is included in the $300.
As far as prices go, I spent $20 on screeching Weasel, $10 on Peter Murphy and $5 on Telegraph canyon. Trentemoller was $15 on Saturday night, but they wouldn't let me in with a camera so i hopped a fence.
Free parties are everywhere, not all of them have free drinks, but there are plenty and Fader fort is completely free with free drinks by the thousands from 2-9pm wed-sat (lines can be long, but no more than 20 minutes usually). I was there Friday and saturday.
I stopped by mwtx party on Saturday, but it was so crowded and hot that me and my friends went to Fader fort just to get drunk and hangout.
Also, they said there were 200,000 people out and about at sxsw this year, I also highly recommend bringing a bike to get around since La zona rosa, Lustre Pearl, Austin Music Hall or Auditorium shores are at least 12 blocks away. My bike did get stolen, but it was done by a ninja way late at night when i was sitting on a patio 10 feet away.
The bands I saw and where: Wednesday - arrived at 6pm, Rolling Stone party w Queens of the stone age - denied access Pharoah Monche - Pepsi Max party Free and free drinks Telegraph Canyon - $5 showcase off 6th Moby - denied access at Pure volume, badges and wb got priority
Thursday Got Fader wristband which took an hour, saw Young Buffalo Moby Vegan BBQ day party - Free with Skrillex and Moby among others The Strokes - free at auditorium shores but stupid packed. Peter Murphy - acoustic set at Ale House $10 My bike got stolen hanging out at my frinds porch at 3am which reduced my range on shows.
Friday Village Voice Media free show at Emo's with Foster The People, Toro Y Moi, Twin Shadow and Esben and The witch left early for Fader Fader Fort - Free drinkathon with Ellie goulding, Smith Westerns, Odd future and matt and Kim Screeching Weasel - $20 at Scoot Inn a block from Fader Iheartcomix after hours party in a store in a mall (wierd venue) free, with free drinks and more people in line for drinks than watching dj's going until 4am
Saturday - Asobi seksu - Walked 12 blocks to catch 20 minutes of their set at Lustre Pearl Free dickies Day Party Third man records truck - bought some vinyl right by Dickies party Dropped off vinyl, stopped by MWTX party, stupid packed, met up with friends went to Fader Fader - Mostly drank, Trash Talk, Bon Iver Megafaun collab, Lil B The Bass God walked to La zona rosa and snuck in for BeardyMan, Leno robot and Trentemoller
Trentemoller was absolutely incredible and closed my sxsw. This was my funnest year out of four i have been to.
Along with the film/interactive/music festival there are several other events including an educational summit and a trade show. My company had a booth at the trade show. Fee for the show included one platinum badge and as the local rep/lead on the show I got the badge. Sadly, I was too busy working to catch any of the film festival.

That's awesome. And thanks to everyone for the pricing info. I plan to go next year. I have friends I can stay with for free, and knowing a lot of the shows are free really helps.
