I stayed at Pretty Lights the whole time in 09, so I didn't, nor have I ever, seen him. I heard mixed reviews, some thought it was cool. Others thought it was a little lame.
I'm not a fair judge, I personally think he gets to much credit for doing something really simple, its cool for what it is, but mixing is mixing, imo.
The set in 09 we incredibly packed. I was beat as hell and just chilled on the fringe for a bit but it seemed like a great time. The people I know that were actually in the tent loved it.
With a new disc and a Winter/Spring tour in the offing, he would seem likely to return. I'm not sure how likely a third late night set in five years is though just because they're such prime real estate.
I fully agree. That's the only reason why I am reluctant to think that he'll be booked.
Edit: I just went back and reread mine and I could see where you thought I meant that he was likely to be booked but unlikely to be late night. I meant that he was unlikely to be booked for a third late night slot in five years and so he was less likely to be booked at all.
Sorry for the confusing first post and, I guess, for this one too!

Girl Talk just announced a massive spring tour and have a new album coming out so I could see it as being quite likely. He'd be fun for late night to bring the party. I just saw him at Moogfest and though yes he basically does just hit play on his computer, his show was primarily a visually driven entity set to a kick-ass mixtape. Even though I was completely wiped out when I saw him, it was fun and he had a big crowd with everyone around me seemingly loving it. Here's a lower quality video I took from that: the sound isn't very great and it got shaky from people dancing into me, but it's a little idea of what his show is like. Also, the guy singing on the video wasn't me, just some fat dude nearby.
I could see this happening. I've seen him 400 times so like what has been already said, I'd prefer something fresh. But I could easily see him becoming a too regular after moderately well received sets in 07 (though I wasn't there) and in 09 which was alot of fun.

^you can see me dancing onstage in that video! i was onstage right next to him throughout his set! (also, considering i was directly next to him, and spent some time watching his computers, i can tell you that it looked considerably more complex than "hitting Play") but yeah, GT would be a lot of fun, and i could see why 'roo would book him, but i don't think he really deserves 3 LN's in 5 years
I had a feeling this topic would pop up. After he did Moog Fest and played Nashville on Halloween (I was there for that one) there's sure to be rumors about Bonnaroo. It would be awesome. Put Greg on the Which Stage late night.

I've seen him 5 times and it's always incredible. I was there for Bonnaroo 07 and 09, as well as Lolla 08, Knoxville 08, and at moog a few days ago. I'm also going to see him on my birthday in Atlanta in January. His shows are pretty much always different, and he's definitely not a space bar DJ. The atmosphere at his shows are incredible, and his Bonnaroo shows are by far the best ones he does. Don't forget, he also has a new album dropping next month, so he'll probably be touring for a while.

He's coming to my town in January. Girl Talk here in the dead of winter - after hearing the new album today I can't think of many things more fun to go to. Anyone at the 2009 late night set will tell you they had a blast. Cannot wait!!!!
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.

I'd definitely be up for Girl Talk. Like it or not, he brings the crowd in, I remember last time at Bonnaroo the stage was PACKED.
I've seen some of the software he uses live, it's pretty interesting. To say it's him just pressing play on an ipod is like saying a DJ just putting two vinyls on. There's a bit more than that, granted not as much, but he uses technology to make it easier: Maps tracks, controls effects, alters volume, etc etc.

I probably wouldn't see Girl Talk if he were there, even though I had a lot of fun at his 09 set. I think if he comes back it *will* be a huge draw though, so I'm behind it. Less crowded tents elsewhere. And he'll make a lot of people happy in his own tent, so I don't have any problem with it.
If this year is at all like last year, I won't need another must-see act during latenight.
Itz ok. As he said in an interview it seems more patient and thought through as a big old set and not individual tracks, feels less frantic for better or worse

love the new record, but i'm with the rest of you - prob. would skip him this time around (obviously depending on the scheduled conflicts) just because i've seen his shtick a lot now.
I'd rather see them get another electronic act. Gillis is great, but from seeing him in both larger and smaller venues, his show much more suited to the smaller ones.
Downloaded All Day last night. Looking forward to finally being able to listen it tonight
