I just saw him on Halloween here in Nashville and was highly disappointed. He only played for an hour and I felt like I was listening to the radio; but that was the fault of the setup. The speakers didn't pound and you could hardly hear the music. It wasn't anything like I thought it would be.
That said, i'd be down for giving him another chance because I do like his material.
Never thought I'd hear an album that opens with a mash-up of "War Pigs" and "Move, B*tch" be described as "slow." If you think that's slow, what did you think of the mellow opening to Feed The Animals?
Edit: M.O.P. over Miley Cyrus is goddamned genius.
oh, i loved the opening. but after that point, it begins to slow down a bit. I kind of felt it during my first listen, and then definitely noticed it while i was working out to it last night. It definitely picks back up though, and i really enjoyed the whole thing.
I like All Day a lot and it seems to be smoother overall than Feed The Animals. There are a lot of songs on the album from his 2009 Roo show, actually. I know people are saying bring some fresh blood in, but he only needs about an hour and fifteen, so he could be slid in late-night fairly easily. I'd go see him again at least.

Yeah, I noticed it when I was running. The opener is obviously really good, but I meant the first part of the album as whole. The first couple tracks just aren't as good as the last ones. 1901 and How Low were made for each other.

Initially, I wasn't super excited at the possibility of him returning to the farm so soon since he last played, but I've been listening to "All Day'' and it's awesome. Its great listening to the CD the whole way through as he intended it and I'd def like to see him again as long as they get some other stellar late night acts.

A bunch of his shows are selling out. NYC is sold out, I was thinking about doing Minneapolis in March but it's sold out too. He said on his Facebook that tickets for shows are going super quick. It looks like he's becoming a bigger draw than I thought he was which is cool. Glad I just saw him at Moogfest. I just downloaded All Day on my slow internet and after it finally finished I realized I'd accidentally downloaded the single file version of the album.

I don't understand all the love for the Daft Punk/Missy Elliot portion. I didn't think that part was all that spectacular. The highlight for me would have to be the Lust for Life/Hey Ladies section. Either that or the Twista/U2, that Leno blew me away.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
I saw part of Girl Talk in '09 and thought it was pretty lame. I've never liked anything I heard of his and was among those with the mindset that all he does is just hit "play" on his ipod UNTIL I saw him at moogfest.
He put on a sick high energy show that had every body dancing and smiling. It was an amazing time and it totally changed my opinion of him. I would definitely go see him for Bonnaroo late night if he was on the lineup.
Girl Talk is garbage. "Hey I'm going to push a button and I want everyone to go NUTS!". Lame, lame, lame.
While it's true he doesn't "perform" in the traditional sense, he does a lot more than just "push a button". And the fact that he can play to sell-out crowds every date of his tour using nothing but other artists' material has to say something about his impact.

Other than running the soundboard what does he do other than pushing a button?
Does it really matter how much work he puts in during the event? I think that we can all agree that, like a TV cooking show, most of the work is done in advance. I think that the deal with Girl Talk is that a bunch of people go and have a good time. It doesn't really need to be anything more with dance music. (It can be, it just doesn't have to be.)

The mashups he makes are pretty good, and I usually am not a fan of that type of music. Also I like to kid about his live show more than anything else I still have not been but it looks like dude knows how to make it a party.
