Also, I am most likely going to Iron & Wine, and I will probably go to NeedtoBreathe. I want to go to grinderman, but I have promised to go to a birthday that evening (god damnit). Other than that, I have heard good things about dr dog, but thats about it.
Iron and Wine reminds me alot of the avett brothers, just alot more mellow, and more folk oriented, I love his music, just not sure how his concert will be. Either way, I will likely be there.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
It depends on what kind of music you're into, but I'd highly recommend North Mississippi Allstars. IMO, Girl Talk is absolutely horrible. I'd rather see Celine Dion do Nickelback covers than have to see Girl Talk again. If you want a DJ dance party, there are so many much better DJs out there.
how 'bout a cheer for all those bad girls. . and those boys that play that rock and roll.. They love it, like you love Jesus ..it does the same thing to their souls...
Well, I definitely intend to check on Dr Dog, and the Cold War Kids now, Iron and Wine is sunday, and I may try to sneak away from the birthday party after we eat, so that I can check out grinderman. They are suppose to be eating in midtown, then going to beale street, and I could care less about beale street, so maybe it will work out.
Ive checked out some North Mississippi Allstars, and Im not sure, the videos on youtube don't impress me a whole lot, but I would have said the same thing about the drive by truckers, and they were great opening for Tom Petty.
One other thing I noticed, Needtobreathe doesn't seem to be getting any love. There were at bonnaroo this year, did anyone see them? I kinda like their latest album, but they might have sucked in concert.
Also, I saw styx last night at the orpheum, and that was a great show.
Needtobreathe is tonight, and it doesn't look like Im going. I did see Iron and Wine and Nomo, and while I thought Nomo was good initially, that thought drasticly changed when the chick started singing, good god man.
As for Iron and Wine, the first 5 or 6 songs he did solo, and I was completely blown away, ive always dug his music, but he is just amazing live solo. Then he brought a band out and played with them, and it was decent, but nothing compaired to him solo.
