Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
If I wanted to go with a group of 8 on a club trip from my school do you think we could organize that? We would prefer set up but would also do break down/clean up. Because the majority of the group has never been to bonnaroo we wanted to avoid a shift during the festival.

In 2010 i did post show volunteer cleanup. I volunteered through CleanVibes, which does work at a number of fests. the cleanvibes and bonnaroo websites should have volunteer information as the festival gets closer. I know that CleanVibes has both during and post show volunteering and I believe you can volunteer through bonnaroo as well for other shifts/ volunteer positions.
There's no real rush in signing up. I didn't sign up until May last year and they had plenty of spots. If you do post show cleanup, be prepared. You will be cleaning up after the biggest party in the US. I has compost duty which was tough work, but the CleanVibes staff and other volunteers are a blast to work with!
So how do you get the set up volunteering spots? Is it one of those things where it helps to know someone? Also, do you have any idea when the volunteer applications typically go up?

I'm not totally sure about the pre show volunteering, but i believe it is done through bonnaroo and there should be info around the time the lineup drops. I dont think cleanvibes does any pre show volunteering, just bonnaroo.
gabfrab, there are a couple jobs for post show cleanup. Probably the job most people get is sweeping the entire festival site and picking up all the trash. My friend and I got compost duty for a day and a half and once we finished got switched to sorting recycling. Compost duty was gross, but it was worth it since we didnt miss any shows. We had to sort through trash cans of garbage that had been sitting in the sun and remove anything non-compostable.
The cool thing about being with the cleanvibes crew is that anything you find or groundscore is yours to keep.
Keep your eye on the Work Exchange Team website. They handled last year's volunteering. They'll eventually have Bonnaroo (if they do it this year too) as a gig and you can apply online to volunteer for it. I've tried to do pre-festival things but never ended up doing it. They also have during festival and post festival work. During festival work involves working the gates, searching cars, sorting recycling, quick cleanups and post festival is just cleaning up the whole area. I've volunteered through WET for 3 different festivals and they are usually good to scheduling you so you don't miss bands you want to see. However, I'd suggest doing post-festival cleanup so you don't miss anything at all and get to keep cool things you find.
Also, note that to volunteer you will have to pay WET or Clean Vibes the full price of a ticket, and they will then refund you the money after the festival providing you worked all your hours.
what if you buy a ticket and then volunteer? I know I'm going either way so I'm buying my ticket during the pre-sale. Will they refund me if I get a volunteering slot and count my ticket as my deposit?
No, they won't, but you should be able to sell your ticket without too much trouble. I volunteered during fest in 09 and 10 and had a great experience.. We'll be regular ticket holders for 2011, only because my husband doesn't want to risk the schedule. Otherwise I would volunteer again. I think I'll try for post festival in the future.
The things that stand out to me are: A few unopened bottles of Corona, a whole bottle of vodka, the Orson Wells' War of the Worlds broadcast on vinyl, a straw hat, $20, a pipe, a small grill, a portable table. The VIP area usually has a lot of abandoned alcohol. And the vinyl was from those people who do the spin art with records. My favorite groundscoring moment happened to another guy cleaning up with me. He found some really cool shoes, which were in good-decent condition. He tried them on and then threw his old shoes away.
Every time I leave the Farm on Monday morning I look around at the wreckage and think that a Clean Vibes crew member could go home with a decently full set of new camping gear.
I did pre-fest last year and during fest in 08 & 09. It was fantastic not having to worry about missing shows but be warned that pre-fest can be very physically demanding and exhausting depending on what you are asked to do. Most everyone is assigned three 12-hour shifts but some folks were lucky enough to have their shift cut short or a relatively cushy assignment. Meals were provided (box lunches) during each shift.
Assignments included: building fences, painting, spreading mulch, decorating the artist areas, assisting patrons with parking, building the mud hut in Planet Roo, setting up the VIP area backstage
Staying on the farm from Sunday to the next Sunday evening/Monday morning is a great but challenging experience.
Check the WET site in February for updates on when they will be accepting applications.
^^^ I had one friend that did pre-fest last year and was wiped out by the time the real party actually started. I had another that did regular fest duty and didn't work a single shift after he saw his schedule. And this is basically why I have never volunteered no matter how broke I am...
I have work as a vendor since 2005 and this year my dad, brother and i wanted to voulenteer. We have profiles for WET and not exactly sure how it works. We are leaving from New Mexico and want to hit up Wakarusa before Bonnaroo and was wondering if voulenteers had to report by a certain day because hitting that wakarusa up will cut it close. Do you have to be there by a certain day or time to voulenteer or how does it work.
You have plenty of time from waka to roo. Best thing is go waka, then monday morning go to memphis, chill there. Tuesday wake up and go to Nashville. Wednesday head to Manchester. Thursday roo.
