I just went to book my Wednesday night hotel @ the comfort suites right outside...they are already booked. Fortunately The Holiday Inn Express had rooms, but she said they were limited. I don't know if anyone cruises down Wednesday and gets a room..just wanted to give you a heads up to reserve it now ( didnt have to pay any $, just leave my cc#)

I stayed in Monteagle a few years ago..I like the proximity of the holiday inn express..right across from wal mart, right by the vip entrance, hot tub and a heated pool..last day to relax before 4 days of madness
I stayed at the Executive Inn the last Roo I went to in '09. I just went to book again and rates are $249.99 a night! ONLY around festival times... I checked my e-mail confirmation from '09, and I paid total $89. Stupid supply and demand!!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
We come from MD/DC and stop in Bristol, TN on Wed night and get an early start on Thursday. Have done this three times and always end up in a good location in GA. Also way cheaper, and there's plenty of places to eat & a nice big Wal Mart to stock up. Only the first year did we encounter long lines on the highway and we got a very late start that day. Head out of Bristol by 8am at the latest, have your tent up by 2pm.
I'm randomly searching for hotels for Wed night... and I saw that McMinnville has an Americas Best Value Inn for $43.99 advance purchase for 1 king bed, $48 for 2 doubles. The Best Western Tree City Inn in Cumberland Caverns is $62.10 with AAA, $69 without. Both are 2 star hotels, I believe. It's roughly 30-40 minutes northeast (without Roo traffic, of course) of Manchester. According to Google Maps, there's a Walmart there too
54.83 advanced purchase for the Days Inn Monteagle.
These are assuming 2 guests per room, by the way. Hope that helps. It's too early for me to reserve cause I'm not 100% if I'm going, but I figure some people might like these options. They're close, so you can get most of your driving done by Wednesday, get a last night of sleep in a real bed, continental breakfast maybe, a good shower, etc. and then head out.
Another option people use is camping nearby, like at state parks or something along the way, but I don't think I'd want to deal with all that twice in a row.
I agree Murfreesboro is a good place to stay Wednesday night if you're coming in from a long drive... and yes there is the obligatory Wal-Mart to grab last minute stuff.
