Im pretty surprised that they didnt get Arcade Fire. I mean - they're headlining about a jillion fests this year, but they couldnt get them to the Gorge??? No mind for me. I'll be in Chicago and they'll be at Roo - so I'll get to see them twice this year, but Im still intrigued with the lineup. The undercard is pretty fab. But I agree with you Sadie, I think last year was better. I'll be there anyway though! Woop!

How does Modest Mouse get billed above Wilco? I guess I underestimate their popularity.
I have a feeling we will see a lot of those undercard names on the Roo lineup.
Agreed on the undercard Julie. I'm looking at the Sasquatch line up as a precursor to Roo... if that's the case, then Im gonna be pretty excited for Roo this year. I mean, more than I already am. Which is a LOT.
I would also like to say - that reading the Sasquatch boards makes me pretty happy to be on Inforoo.

definitely had a top of the card more to my liking last year. Though Wilco and Flaming Lips will be good.

I like the lineup, but I think the top 4 acts just emphasize what we thought with Coachella and should expect with Roo: The headliners of this years festivals are just going to be okay, nothing spectacular.
I think everyone across the board for all festivals (particularly anniversary fests) are so amped up for these phenomenal lineups. But the fact is that bands dont just drop what they're doing to play a gig - anniv. fest or not. ...I do appreciate that AC/Superfly attempted Radiohead and Prince though.

FLips doing Soft Bulletin, FlyLo, Bonobo is all that really has my interest. and i live on the polar opposite end of the country. festie circuit hasn't had a clear HOLY SH!T for me yet...
desertcinema's right: It just doesn't look like an outstanding year for top-heavy North American music fests. Sasquatch is solid, all the way around, but it doesn't have that knock-your-socks-off feel, at least as far as I'm concerned. Seeing the Sasquatch lineup, I really hope 'roo gets Bright Eyes, too.
there are other bands on the lineup that i would be down to see, but those four would be particularly cool for me. would like to see any of them at bonnaroo.
i thought wolf parade had kind of broken up. maybe this date was already in the works?

Yeah...I'm actually thinking this is the direction Festivals are headed as a whole. There are only so many Princes and Radioheads. The only true "headliner" really is Foo Fighters (based on other festivals placement of the band, radio hits, record sales ect.). We're going to be living in an age where the headliner is replaced with strong undercards. Sasquatch did it, Coachella did it and from the rumblings of those who have seen the lineup, Roo is doing it.

Agreed - I believe that Roo has been doing this for the past couple years imho. And honestly - I dont mind it at all. My first Roo was '07, and I got the ticket for the Police (dont smite me people) - and while seeing them was fantastic, the undercard was very indie heavy which is totally my cup o' tea. I've been every year since, and last year was the same. I didnt really have interest in seeing Steve -> Jay-z but i actually really enjoyed them! AFTER i saw all the undercard that made my day.
...to be even more honest - It doesnt matter to me who is on the Farm. I'll be there every year. I love Roo.

Beach House, Bright Eyes, CSS, Chromeo, Cold War Kids, The Flaming Lips (After seeing them 5 times in 2010, I want soft bulletin), Flying Lotus (Not happening unfortunately...why?), Local Natives, Modest Mouse, MSTRKRFT, Old 97’s, The Radio Dept., Reggie Watts, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Skrillex, Sleigh Bells, Smith Westerns, The Thermals, Wilco, Wolf Parade, Young the Giant
I want them all! (and thankfully, bonnaroo probably booked the majority of these)
Although, they have traditionally been more about the under card, in my opinion, the organizers of the Sasquatch Festival did a great job of capturing who they are musically by booking headliners who represent the sounds of the pacific northwest. If I had the money I would definitely head out that way this year and for those of you who haven't you must! In my experience, festival attendees are far more kind than any other festival I've visited and the scenery alone is worth the trip. I strongly recommend it.

^^^Thanks jones. I'm definitely going this year. Im excited to see how lovely it is at the Gorge - I've been down the border of Washington&Oregon/Idaho (the Snake River), and it was fantastically beautiful. Now I get to see it from the top!
Music Midtown'01'02'04'05'11-'13::Ultra'02'03::Roo'07-'16::ACL'10::AF/TheNational'11::Sasquatch'11::Voodoo'11'16::Counterpoint'12'14::Moogfest'12::TommorowWorld'13'14::MOEMS'13::Coachella'14'15::ShakyKnees'13-'17::MFGLASTONBURY2017
So where exactly at roo did you have a 10.00 can of beer? The camping at the gorge is great? Premiere camping had two showers for over 15,000 people. The GA camping is packed more than Roo's. DMB has his show in WA because it's the only place he's popular anymore. He caused the death of the 10KLF. Also, watch who you're calling old noob.
First of all i had $5 12 oz bottles, which would equal a $10 for a 24 oz can from the gorge. And just beacause I dont have a large amount of posts, doesn't make me a nub, This aint my first rodeo cowgirl! So leave the partying to the kids old man and go to your premiere camping! You know nothing of which you speak..
So would you like the op to say these things to my face little boy? It would be worth the trip to Sasquatch just to meet you. I'll just look for the skinny runt face down in the mud, you party animal. That $10 beer, was a 12oz corona, see pic. But it's nice to see the public school system was successful in teaching you math. Go math!
^^^ For the record, you totally just made yourself look like a summers breeze. Nothing lamer than threatening to kick someone's ass over a message board.
Thumbs up!
On another note, has Death from Above 1979 always been on the lineup or is this a new addition?
Well thanks for waking me up to that fact that I shouldn't waste my time on people like that guy or you for that matter. I have come to the conclusion that this site and those on it are not what use to draw me to it. There was a sense of community. Now it seems to have turned into some kind of bad MTV sitcom. The days of Kramer and helping hands has seemed to pass on. To those like Meg, Becca, Wolfman and the other vets of this board, it has been a pleasure. To the rest, well you're just not worth the time. See ya.

How did I not see this thread?! And how have I been missing all this delicious drama?
Oh well, I'm here now!
Mayo, we are camping at the fest, right? Ron and I hadn't planned on anything but that.
Holls and Druid - you two lovely ladies joining us for Sasquatch? Ron and I have plenty of room for more guests before the fest!
Ha!!! I wondered when you'd find this thread Dani! Yes, totally camping there. I figure, lets give the whole shebang a try the first time before I go all fancy and get a camping spot at Wildhorse. Meghan and Brentan are currently working out their work schedules and then we will be settling our flights out to Portland. So I'll let you know that info when we get to that point. SOOOOO happy that I get to spend a fest with you and Ron! AND get to meet Gigglepuss! Thank you again for offering to host meeeee!!!

I would pay $250 to see the lips play at that venue, it would be a beautiful sight. But as we all know the ticket is less then half of your total cost. I may try to end up going if some money falls in my lap.
Yeah, Im able to go because I have friends who can host me (DANI IS THE SHIZZZZ!!), I have Delta skymiles to spend (FREEEEE FLIGHT!), and I've been planning on getting the tix for awhile so I was able to buy when they announced the lineup. So money wasn't an issue. i am psyched.

Sweet. My dad works for Delta so I fly cheap. I thinking about going to Hangout as well, that may be festival overload. Just like the lineup at that venu.
