Huh? I'm a little confused by this...there's another poster saying that Outkast is a possibility? You don't have to tell us who if you don't want, but did he or she tell you via PM?
Also, another thing to consider: the artist that AC signed Saturday night that Ashley Capps got excited about and, according to him, "put the line-up over the top" could've been Andre 3000. Just sayin'.
werent you convinced it would be BEP not long ago?
No...? I may have said that jokingly, I don't remember. But, I don't really think it's BEP. Never did.
Can't go into detail about my source, but the Saturday headliner is a Dungeon Family showcase. Big Boi, Janelle Monae and Cee-lo are the big names confirmed so far. Others are in negotiations including Andre 3000. Not here to argue if you don't believe me. We'll sort that out Tuesday
For those who haven't been keeping score, here's some evidence and/or hearsay that points positively to the possibility of The Dungeon Family and/or Outkast:
a) Bonnaroo 2011 needs a name at the top of the bill. Very few hip-hop acts (Jay-Z, Kanye West, Kanye West & Jay-Z together, Eminem (or Eminem & Dre), and Outkast) could top the bill.
b) The Saturday night headliner is a hip-hop act. Very few hip-hop acts could land the biggest timeslot of the whole fest (see above).
c) Radio stations have been whispering rumors lately of The Dungeon Family touring again soon (admittedly, this is not worth much).
d) Cee-Lo may owe AC Entertainment a lot of money for bailing on Moogfest. He may have called some of his friends to help bail him out of this.
e) Ashley Capps has said there are a few "once-in-a-lifetime" shows on the bill. Now, this may or may not refer to a headliner, but Outkast would qualify as a once-in-a-lifetime show.
f) Big Boi will definitely be at Bonnaroo.
Admittedly, some of these are more speculative and less credible than others, but you guys have to admit: Outkast seems a bit more likely now than they did two weeks ago.
With all of that said, you have brought up some very valid evidence as to why they will not be there.
A) Eminem is at Lolla. He is the only logical choice who currently has the stage production to back the top spot.
B) Eminem fits here to.
C) Radio stations still get inside information? Radio still exists?
D) Cee-lo plays a solo set. Everything is square.
E) Promotors speak promotor language. Of course he said this and I'm sure he is right, but why do we automatically assume the rare performances are booked in one of the headlining slots. Check the tents.
F) Exactly why outkast will not be at roo. Why would they book a reunion now? This would completely overshadow Big Boi's solo performance and concentrating on solo projects is the ONLY reason Outkast ever took a break.
Move on.
I'm a dj at my college radio station. This makes me sad.

For Bashido. Again, this isn't the sole reason why I'm considering it a possibility. But, this post strikes me as more credible than, say, a post by pompeiiam.

what i have proven is that you need to calm down on believing any name brought up on the boards. not just you though, everyone around here. someone says a name and everyone suddenly is convinced that must be it because we havent already figured it out. yall are crazy, calm yo self.

What are these boards for from July until January if not speculation.

well its one thing in July to being saying OutKast, its another two days from the lineup when we have basically confirmed a solid portion of the lineup, including headliners, and all signs are pointing towards OutKast not being there.
on june 15th or whatever day i get back from roo ill start the first post speculating that Radiohead, Daft Punk and OutKast are the 2012 headliners, but now is not the time for such ridiculous thinking
Do you guys all really think that Eminem is so much bigger a draw then a Dungeon Family?
Maybe the name "Dungeon Family" at first wont cause a stir, but considering Big Boi, right now, is just as big as Em, Dropped one of the biggest albums of the year, and has the Outkast name to go along with him. And Cee-Loo dropeed one of the biggest songs of the year, and has the Gnarls Barkley name to go along with him.
They have both been way more in the spotlight lately then eminem. Recovery may have sold more records, but Big Boi and Cee Loo have been talked about alot more this year.
Im not saying either one is more reasonable right now, but to say that the Eminem is clearly a bigger draw and that the dungeon family cannot compete with him is a little silly.

Eminem is clearly a much bigger draw if Three Stacks is not involved. Big Boi and Cee Lo combined dont match that. OutKast matches the draw no doubt, but the thing is that seems about as likely as the talking heads this year

In July 2010, Outkast would've made no sense. Now, it makes a little sense.
That's the point I'm making. Not that they'll be there. Just that there are certain things in play RIGHT NOW that make them a sensible possibility, more sensible than they were two weeks ago.

Headliner is all about the power of a name to draw ticket buyers to purchase a ticket. Every music fan knows who Eminem is. I would say the vast majority (I'm thinking 75% or more) have zero clue what The Dungeon Family is.
