I missed a lot since I left 4 hours ago!
Granted, any of us who are on here a lot could've created this lineup (more or less) based on the already known/suspected bands, I think this is legit. Here's my reasoning:
-reunion/once in a lifetime show: Buffalo Springfield. Clearly this is a once in a lifetime show. Just because they played one other time in the past few decades doesn't make it a "twice in a lifetime show." How stupid would Capps sound if he tweeted that?
-Big Hip-Hop act: Eminem. Widely speculated, but it makes sense. It's one HL shared with Lolla, like often happens. He played the Grammy's last night and even won rap album of the year. Not that the Grammy's mean a lot, but he's clearly big enough to fill Jay Z's spot from last year.
-It has the other 2 top billed artists we expected: WSP and AF. Not strong evidence, but it doesn't hurt credibility I suppose.
-Nothing too unrealistic: although Buffalo Springfield is pretty out there. It makes sense, though, since I would bet that the 2 most expensive artists to book were Eminem and BS, and I would guess AF is a little cheaper than most Friday HL bands of the past, and WSP is probably about average for a Sunday HL (cheaper than phish, but that was a special situation, and probably cheaper than DMB).
-Below the top 4, metal: I count 5 metal acts. I don't know who some bands are, but that is about the normal amount.
-hip hop: I counted 6 hip hop acts at first glance. This is about average, too, especially with one headlining.
-jam bands: I saw a count somewhere a few pages ago and it looked about right. Less jam bands than Indie or something else less narrow, but they are generally slightly bigger names.
-electronic: has some big names on there, but this varies a lot year to year. Certainly more will be added in the coming weeks (like how the Lunar Stage was added last year).
-thursday bands: there are a fair amount of "up and coming" bands that will fit nicely on Thursday. (Note: I don't want to talk about this because I have to miss thursday to take a qualifying exam Friday morning to determine whether I can stay in my grad program!) These have a lot of variety, from Sleigh Bells to Best Coast.
-the obvious: It has all the bands we expected. If someone did fake it, they did their research. It has roo clue bands (Kylesa, Scissor Sisters), expected headliners (AF, WSP), expected undercard (Girl Talk, Iron & Wine), and a lot of bands that weren't rumored but just make sense and should be expected based on past roo trends (Phantogram).
I hope that makes sense. And somebody go ahead and find a mistake in there, because I'm sure there are a few.
this board is flooded with n00bs. its insane really.
this is the lineup, and i think its a hell of a lineup. , NY, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, MMJ, The Black Keys, Massive Attack, Eminem, Robert Plant, WSP, Gregg Allman, Primus!!!
My 2 cents: that Twitter lineup is totally bogus. Sure, a lot of those band will probably play, but there's nowhere near enough variety. Bonnaroo ALWAYS has bands I've never heard of, and I've heard of 95% of those bands.
For what it's worth (no BS pun intended), I mentioned Yonder Mountain String Band on my Consequence of Sound 40 guesses list, and I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere else. Then voila, it gets tweeted on this fake lineup.
Guys, wait another few hours and we'll have the real thing, but this is NOT it.
I'm 100% with you. I know i'm in the minority on this board in that I actually like mainstream music and don't care for jam bands, but damn...if this is the lineup, i'll be pissed.
I mean, everyone complained last year and we had Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, Kings of Leon (whatever they put on a hell of a show), Weezer, Deadmau5, Flips....
I mean, are they trying to drive the young crowd away this year? I get that Bonnaroo started off as more of a jam-band, classic rock fest....but I honestly have never even heard of Buffalo Springfield and I can guarantee my friends haven't either.
Don't get me wrong, I am completely cool with big jam bands and folk/classic rock bands being there...just throw us young kids a bone too...and just having Eminem and Arcade Fire isn't enough IMO.
Whatever, i'll still have a good time.
i appreciate your opinion but how young are you im 19 and ive known who bs was since at least 13-14
23. BS was evidently around 20 years before I was even born. I looked up "For What It's Worth" and I definitely know the song, but I never had heard of the band. I'm sure they will put on a good show and if I lived through the 60's i'm sure I would appreciate it on a whole other level, but I can't help but be a little disappointed in this "fake" lineup.
Now just because I like mainstream music doesn't mean I listen to Kesha and Black-Eyed Peas and T-Pain. I appreciate good music, I just would prefer some more music that would appeal to my generation. Not people who would have been awesome to see in 1970.
Case in point: Bob Dylan on the Grammy's last night.

"Once in a lifetime" doesn't necessarily promise anything so we should all stop focusing on it. Also, if it does mean some kind of act or something it doesn't mean it'll be a headliner.

Who would be your top 10?
Also - bob dylan isn't as good as he used to be but Neil Young certainly is.

There's a difference between the "Young Crowd" and the "Young Crowd That Listens to Good Music" apparently. There are multiple artists on that fake that are extremely relevant to my demographic.

Sorry guys, it's gonna be Mellencamp. He's touring. But I'm 21 ... and I'd still be fuckin pumped to hear Mellencamp do his hits. Either way, I have faith.

I'm 23 and love Buffalo Springfield. Have loved them since I found out about them in 2008. I wish someone showed them to me years before I discovered them.

Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

I remember putting Buffalo Springfield on one of my mocks, but that was fourth as the classic rock headliner. Course, it also had U2/Radiohead (depends on which), Furthur, and maybe one more. I'm not complaining about Buffalo Springfield, that's a huge get. But they are a polarizing #1 imo.
I am sitting here praying that lineup is fake, but feeling like it is real. I'll be pretty disappointed if tomorrow this is what we are looking at.
Sorry you feel that way. For my personal tastes that would be the strongest top of the card in years and the undercard looks phenomenal. But that's just me. And I don't think the lineup is legit. We'll see tomorrow.
wow i can't believe people can complain about that lineup. i'm not the b iggest bs fan but i do recognize they should be at the top of the bill. if you don't think the lineup is geared towards young fans then you just don't know the bands on the fake lineup. and i can totally see how ppl are dismissing bs like they would a black and white movie just because it's "old"

Honestly, if we get 90% of those undercards mentioned, then this thread needs to die, because the headliners won't matter. They'll just be another band we're seeing on top of all these other good bands we're seeing.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

Buffalo Springfield are like classic rock gold in that they are a rare act. They only played together for a short time and made some amazing music but never toured for years and years like a lot of other classic rock acts.
I'm 27, you guys will all learn soon enough, as I slowly have. It's all about honoring our musical past, present, and future. If I told you The Yardbirds or Derek and the Dominos were playing, many of you would be more focused on catching a Ghostland set over those guys, not knowing that these bands featured the likes of Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. It's moments like this I realize why Inforoo is so frustrating. The majority of you guys need to do your homework.
Seriously, you guys are killing me. This is a fairly decent attempt at faking a lot of people out, but it doesn't have any WTF-out of nowhere bands that Bonnaroo always books.
I love the fake lineup by the way, but it's maybe 60-70% accurate. The rest are good guesses.
Has anyone seen Steely Dan lately? They've got a great catalog.
They are great, most of their live band lives in Nashville, because they are typically session musicians. There has been a lot of chatter about some shows soon. Also JTE has been griping that he hates them, and I am pretty sure we will have him this year.,

Also - bob dylan isn't as good as he used to be but Neil Young certainly is.
1. Radiohead 2. Daft Punk 3. Jay-Z (again...show was phenomenal) 4. Mumford and Sons (will be happy if they show) 5. David Gray 6. Arcade Fire (happy that they're on the lineup) 7. Smashing Pumpkins 8. Third Eye Blind (yes i'm serious) 9. MGMT 10. Keith Urban (dude puts on a kickass show and can play the hell out of a guitar)
Maybe I don't like "good" music if I have to like indie, obscure music in order to be respected...but I'd like to think I have better taste than 90% of other young people who just listen to top 40 pop hits all day.
